SPECIAL REPORT: ECOBUILD 2011 ECOCOOLING EVAPORATIVE COOLING
Evaporative cooling can reduce the energy cost of building cooling by over 90%.
E
coCooling are at the forefront of evaporative cooling technology and are leading the way in providing low carbon, low energy cooling solutions for all types of buildings including multi storey offices – large retail outlets, server rooms and data centres.
Suitable for both retrofit and new build, EcoCoolers provide a simple, safe and low cost alternative to refrigeration
based cooling for the comfort cooling of buildings. EcoCoolers are low in carbon output and their low energy requirements mean that power savings can be utilised for expansion if required. One EcoCooler covering an area of 250sqm or a 30m diameter circle can provide 35kW of cooling from just 1.5kw of electricity. The combined utility cost works out at under 12p per hour. For a 100kW server room this could represent an annual saving of £35,000 and over 200 tonnes of carbon with pay back being achieved in well under a year in most cases. For many applications a pleasant working environment can be achieved with very little disruption to the work force in a relatively short space of time. EcoCoolers have the most advanced control system on the market and can be connected to existing BMS systems. EcoCoolers also qualify for interest free loans from the carbon trust and Salix funding enabling many installations to be self funding.
EcoCooling will be demonstrating their ECP evaporative cooler at the show along with the new EcoCooling CREC
(computer room evaporative cooler) Project details and case studies will be available on stand N1901. For further details ring 01284

www.ecocooling.org Elta Fans to introduce three new product brochures E
lta Fans will be exhibiting its wide range of ventilation products at Ecobuild 2011 on stand N1765. The focus of their stand this year will be to introduce the brand new energy-reducing Eltadrive Inverters and QUBe centrifugal fan units.
Eltadrive Inverters are one aspect in the control of ventilation fans. They offer cost savings through the reduction of energy usage at reduced fan speeds and the ability to control the fan via sensors such as humidity, temperature and pressure.
QUBe double skinned centrifugal fan units are highly efficient and resistant systems, with models capable of handling the most arduous and elevated temperatures. Each QUBe unit is user and installer friendly with low noise generation.
The new high pressure
PowerPlus range brochure will also be available. The range has been specifically developed
to tackle higher pressure requirements with a straightforward, efficient and definitive approach. The totally enclosed air over motors, along with their low profile robust U-shaped mounting brackets, allow for maximum open area, reducing velocities through the fan casing and resulting in increased efficiency and a reduction in noise and vibration levels. Elta Fans is fully committed to the reduction of carbon footprints in new and existing buildings, by using higher efficiency and lower energy products, components and control systems. Recent and developing legislation highlights the need for faster and high quality product and system
development in the important area of energy conservation. Demand Control
Ventilation (DCV) is an effective way of applying this
philosophy as it allows variable ventilation solutions to be efficiently applied to variable occupancy spaces in buildings. Reductions in noise ratings, cable sizes and the total amount of energy usage are very important factors, both for customers and for Elta’s product development programmes. Elta’s goal is to provide high quality, energy efficient products with a cost effective ventilation solution. Elta has one of the most
comprehensive and flexible ranges of general purpose fans available, from 100mm to 2m diameter. Within the field of air movement, Elta Fans products have developed around building services applications, air coolers and refrigeration to offshore and marine, industrial processing, power generation, traction and other specialist markets. Elta Fans is the leader in fans for smoke extract, with a comprehensive range certified to EN12101-3, car park ventilation, using jet impulse and induction technology, and for use in hazardous areas, under the ATEX standard.
