Meet
Tiffany Mendenhall EC Gallery Director, Fashion Valley
EC’s Gallery Director Tiffany Mendenhall, shines in her ability to establish long-lasting relationships with our col- lectors. Anyone who has worked with her immediately recognizes her warm-hearted nature, fun-loving spirit, sin- cere integrity and valuable knowledge of the art work and artists represented by EC. Having been part of our team for more than four years, she is undeniably one of EC’s most treasured assets.
What was your background before working for EC Gallery? As a student at the University of California, Santa Barbara (majoring in Biology), I ran two high-end antique stores just outside of Santa Barbara for six and a half years. That initial experience managing a diverse mix of antique dealers, staff and celebrity clientele was an invaluable opportunity that absolutely helped to prepare me for my career today.
What attributes to you bring to the team at EC? I try to lead by example with a positive attitude, strong work ethic and I take great pride in providing excellent customer service to our clients. I am hard-working, op- timistic, enthusiastic, patient, trustworthy and, of course, passionate about what I do!
What do you enjoy most about working for Exclusive Collections? I thrive on the constant change and mental stimulation that comes with having a career in the art world. I love be- ing surrounded by beautiful works of art that evoke emo- tion and inspire people every day! I also believe tremen- dously in the artists we carry and enjoy finding the perfect home for each work of art.
EXCLUSIVE COLLECTIONS GALLERIES
What is your favorite work (or works) of art? This always depends on the day and my particular mood. The “Winged Victory of Samothrace” at the Louvre in Paris will forever be my favorite because it is so moving, power- ful yet soft, capturing and inspirational. Though I currently love Asencio’s “Liberation” and “Solace,” Flohr’s “Bour- bon Street,” and Master Tuan’s “Contentment.” Many of my all-time favorite originals have already found homes, including Royo’s “Azaleas,” Flohr’s “Grand Canal,” and so many others… too many to name!
How does your appreciation for art affect your ability to serve clients? It allows me to enjoy the art discovery process alongside others—I truly believe that art enriches people’s lives in so many ways!
What should one look for when seeking to buy a work of art? Make sure you are buying from a consultant and/or gal- lery you can trust and from people who make the experi- ence enjoyable. Only choose art that moves you and then ask for artist credentials as well as business credentials.
What is your theme song? “R-E-S-P-E-C-T” by Aretha Franklin! I love music, espe- cially sassy dance music!
What is a quote you live by?
“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the ‘present.’” —Eleanor Roosevelt.
