West Coast Tool & Plant Hire Adds More Volvos To Its Fleet West Coast Tool & Plant Hire of Lochgilphead, Argyllshire has added more Volvo compact excavators to its fleet of predominantly Volvo branded machines. Proprietor Darran Mellish is no stranger to the Volvo product. “West Coast Tool & Plant Hire has had Volvo minis in its fleet for ten years now and we continue to choose them due to their high specification which comes as standard and their consistently high level of reliability and availability,” he said. The latest batch of machines are three EC27C’s, the first of which was delivered from this year’s Scot Plant exhibition, the very last B series EC15B and a DD14 tandem roller. Customer acceptance, ease of maintenance and good residual values are additional reasons for continuing with the Volvo brand according to Mr Mellish. In addition, all three sizes of compact excavator available for hire from West Coast Tool & Plant can be equipped with Engcon tiltrotators offering a high degree of flexibility to its customers. “The added investment we’ve made with the Engcon attachments gives us a specialist edge in offering the equipment for self drive hire as well as our own contracting division,” continued Mr Mellish.

The relatively new EC27C replaces the previous EC25 and EC30 models. Powered by a Volvo 1.6 litre low emission Tier III the machine delivers the performance in the range of the previous Volvo EC30 – yet with a compact design reminiscent of the smaller EC25.
