LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT


Each year, the Department conducts two Canberra- based graduate programs.


The Policy Graduate Program prepares successful candidates for a career as a generalist policy officer. The program enables candidates to develop and expand their knowledge in a broad range of areas -


from international economic and financial cooperation to international legal, security and strategic issues, trade negotiation and public affairs. Policy Graduates undertake a two-year professional development program in Canberra, combining work placements with formal training modules, academic ‘gap filling’ courses and regional travel programs.


The Corporate Graduate Program prepares successful candidates for a career managing the Department’s human and financial resources, and corporate strategies. The program enables candidates to develop and expand their knowledge in a broad range of areas - from complex human resource, property and security issues to cutting-
