Overview The diverse property and urban development sector offers a range of employment opportunities and plays an integral part in the way people live. Property and urban development professionals are involved in creating new residential communities, managing existing areas, and ensuring sustainable futures for our cities and towns.


The industry is a major employer and contributor to the Australian national and state economies, providing an average of 12 per cent to gross domestic product over the last five years.


The work The industry covers a diversity of activities, skills and technologies. It ranges from large capital-intensive and export-oriented construction and consulting firms through to small family businesses.


The sector offers careers in finance, development facilitation, management and construction to professionals trained in many disciplines, such as architecture and urban design, engineering, town planning, environmental sciences, commerce, real estate and project management, to name only a few.
