Each issue we spotlight what’s happening in ECA regions throughout the country. Here we focus on the West Midlands and Central South regions


Spotlight on: Central South region


Bournemouth and Dorset; Oxford; Portsmouth and District; Southampton; and Swindon and Thames Valley. The region stretches from just south of Milton Keynes and covers the counties of Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Hampshire, Dorset and areas of Wiltshire and Somerset. The regional office is in Newbury, and is conveniently placed in the centre of the region with good road connections to all parts of the region.

The regional team consists of regional manager Tony Parish, deputy regional manager Roger Mitchell and regional secretary Dawn Hill.


Regional activity


The region always tries to maintain a high level of support for its members through activities such as regular training workshops and presentations on a wide range of

he Central South region is the second largest in the ECA representing more than 370 companies It has six branches:


topics – activities that have been even more important during 2010. So far this year members have had the opportunity to participate in business mornings and workshops that have covered topics as wide ranging as ‘Opportunities in CCTV’, ‘Time Management’ and ‘Closing a Deal’. There were presentations on new products, subsidised calibration mornings, updates on the changes in legislation that impact on members businesses, and more. In November, the region held its sustainability roadshow, where more than 60 members received valuable guidance on the opportunities that exist in the renewables marketplace. The region has always been prepared to pioneer new ideas, and one of the ECA’s latest initiatives – the Management Development Programme – was born out of an idea from members in the region. This is now being rolled out successfully across the country and, as reported in the Autumn issue of ECA Today, the first four candidates – all from the Central South region – received their Chartered
