Steamship Virginia V Holiday Cruises to Benefit Forgotten Children’s Fund
As the Forgotten Children’s Fund
gears up to deliver 15,000 gifts and good cheer to more than 700 local families and their children, the Steamship Virginia V is offering a series of holiday cruises to benefit the FCF. Three separate cruises on December 2nd, 18th and 23rd will provide guests with the sights and sounds of the holidays from the water, with opportunities to join the Christmas Ships each night. “This is a wonderful opportunity to
enjoy the season in a unique way while helping families who aren’t receiving other types of aid,” said Dan Wood, President of the Forgotten Children’s Fund. “We’re already buying new toys, bicycles, winter coats and food that our volunteer Santas and Elves will distribute at Christmas.” It all started back in 1976 with a
letter written to Santa Claus from a child who missed out on Christmas. Going on its 34th year, the Forgotten Children’s Fund has stepped in to help those

families who have fallen on hard times, and receive little or no aid from other organizations. Families are referred by schools, churches, police agencies, and others. The all-volunteer organization with more than 1000 volunteers, receives letters from families, and then plans a logistical miracle to deliver the toys, books, clothing, blankets and other necessities at the holidays. Right now, more donations and
volunteers are welcome to create holiday cheer for families who otherwise would have little to celebrate. And that’s where the Steamship Virginia V is stepping in, donating part of its proceeds to the FCF from these special cruises. “Virginia V is proud to celebrate
the spirit of the holidays with this partnership,” said Steve Holmes, President of the Steamship Virginia V Foundation. “We invite all of you who want to experience a little bit of maritime history during the holidays to come aboard.”
