Bradford Holle died Wednesday morning, November 24, 2010, of pneumonia, at his res- idence at The Jefferson, built by the Marriott Corporation. Before being retired medically he served 14 years in theArmy Corps of Engineers in various assignments in Europe, the United States and the Far East. They included works in civil works, rivers and harbors; instructor of bituminous pavements and as an Aide de Camp of an Engineer General. His troop assignments included commanding a heavy engineer equipment company deployed to Adana, Turkey during the Lebanon affair in the 1950's. Bradford was one of the twin sons of Maj. Gen. and Mrs. Charles G. Holle of the Corps of Engineers and Washington, DC. He was 81 years of age. Services will be private.

Vicki was a 1979 graduate of Connellsville High School and she received her bachelor’s degree from California University of Pennsylvania in Spe- cial Education. She was employed as a special education teacher at the Matthew Henson Middle School in the Charles Co., Maryland schools. She was the loving and devoted daughter of Freda Pearl Richter Grimm of Connellsville; beloved sister of Harry “Buzz" Grimm and his wife Jane (Ralph) of Sea Isle City, N.J., Debbie Grimm of Webb City, Missouri and Henry Grimm and his wife Tonya of South Connellsville; dearly loved aunt of Jonathan Grimm, Kylee Jensen, Austin Grimm, Caleb Grimm and Scotty Krause; loving great aunt to Aiden Jensen and Aaron and Ava Grimm. Col. FRANKLIN JOHN GINGRICH, JR. (Age 74)


Died at home on Thursday, November 18, 2010 after beating the odds and surviving 11 years with lung cancer. Born July 6, 1936 in Hershey, Pennsylvania to Franklin and Nancy Gingrich, Frank attended Gettysburg College and graduat- ed in 1957. On September 21, 1957, Frank married Jill Green in Oakmont, Pennsyl- vania. He served 27 years in the United States Air Force retiring in 1984, attaining the rank of Colonel. Frank's Air Force career included assign- ments in Texas, Maine, Africa, Colorado, Greenland, England, Alabama, Alaska, and Virginia. His first assignment was as a founding member of the 1st Aerospace Control Squadron and he finished his career as the Commander of the 2147th Communications Group at RAF Mildenhall. Among his military honors are the Legion of Merit with one oak leaf cluster, Meritori- ous Service Medal with 2 oak leaf clusters, Joint Service Commendation Medal, and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award (1st Aero). After retiring from the Air Force, he started a home improvement business specializ- ing in kitchen, deck, and bathroom remod- eling. He stopped professionally remod- eling in mid-1994 after which he and Jill moved to Woodbridge, Virginia to live with their daughter Shannon and three granddaughters. Frank was actively involved with the Twin Oaks Homeowners Association first as the pool director, and finally as Association President. He also spent many hours on his numerous hobbies including wood- working, cabinet making, and playing World of Warcraft on the internet with his many dear friends from the online guild, Defenders of the Pass. He is survived by his wife, Jill Gingrich; daughter, Shannon Shirley ofWoodbridge, Virginia; son, Tyler Gingrich and Tyler's wife, Margaret of Columbus, Ohio; and four grandchildren, Eric Gingrich, Lauren Shirley, Emma Shirley, and Jenny Shirley. Frank was preceded in death by his beloved dog Maggie. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery, February 28, 2011 at 1 p.m.


GUSTAV LOUIS IBRANYI, M.D. (89) FOLEY WHITE HARRIS (Age 99)


Of Christiansburg, VA, and previously residing in Alexandria, VA and Washington, DC, died Sunday, November 14, 2010 at Wheatland Hills Retirement Community. He was born in Surry County, NC on September 14, 1911 to the late Tyre Henderson Harris and the late Sarah Plutina Snow Harris. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Louise Edwards Harris and one son, Dale Louis Harris. He attended college at School of the Ozarks, Point Lookout, MO and American University, Washington,DC. Mr. Harris was a police officer with the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, DC for 31 years, retiring in 1968. After getting his real estate license, he dabbled in that area for a few years before returning to police work. He served as Director of Security for GEICO headquarters in Chevy Chase, MD. Following his second retirement, Mr. Harris served on the security staff at Arlington Tow- ers. His last position was in security at the Northern Virginia Community College, Alexan- dria Campus. Mr. Harris was active in his community and with Scouting. Family and friends were always very important to him and he did whatever he could to help them out. He is survived by one son, Dr. Charles E. Harris and wife, Zelma Hedrick Harris of Pearisburg, VA; sisters-in-law, Olive Edwards King and Patsy Newton Edwards of King George, VA and Nancy Edwards of North Palm Beach, FL; special niece, Cynthia King Miller and husband, Luke Miller and special nephew, Larry King and wife Jo King, all of King George, VA; numerous nieces and nephews. He earned his PhD in physics at The Hebrew University, in Jerusalem. He did his post- doctorate work at Cal-Tech, under the tutelage of the great Linus Pauling. He met his wife of 60 years, Adeline (Garfield) Mazur, while doing research at the Univer- sity of Chicago. Dr. Mazur became an esteemed physicist and worked for many years atThe National Institute of Science and Technology, in Darnestown, Maryland. He was the loving husband of Adeline Mazur and a loving father for his 2 sons David (now deceased), and Jonathan. Dr. Mazur is survived by his wife, Adeline, his son, Dr. Jonathan Mazur of Nashua; and three lovely granddaughters, Rachel Alyse, Sarah Beth and Olivia Kai.He has extended family in Israel, which he frequently visited and often felt this to be his home. McCLOUD GEORGE JOHN McCLOUD (Age 94)


A former marketing manager at Chesa- peake & Potomac Telephone Company, died after a brief illness November 20, 2010 at The Virginian in Fairfax,VA. McCloud, born in Baltimore, MD on Janu- ary 31, 1916, moved to Northwest Wash- ington, DC, as an infant and remained a Washingtonian and, later, a Northern Virginia resident throughout his life. He graduated from McKinley Tech High School and attended Georgetown Univer- sity Foreign Service School inWashington. He served during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Following the war, McCloud began working for C & P Tele- phone Company. He was a Bell System Pioneer. He retired from C & P after 39 years of service. McCloud was a parishioner of St. Antho- ny’s Catholic Church in Falls Church. He was a member of the Arimatheans, serving the celebrants and bereaved families at funeral Masses held at Ft. Myer. McCloud was also an active volunteer at the home- less shelter in Bailey’s Cross Roads. Survivors include his wife, Anna V. McCloud of Fairfax; four children, Mary K. McCloud of Heathsville, VA, Patrick McCloud and his wife, Victoria of Voorhees, NJ, Anne M. Boyle and her husband, Steve of Denver, CO and Mau- reen M. Roberts and her husband, Arthur of Heathsville,VA; step-children, Patsy and Richard Cornwell of South Pleasant, SC, James and Elizabeth Donahue of Simsbury, CT and John Thomas Donahue of East Hampton, CT; 21 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. McCloud was pre- deceased by his son, Peter L. McCloud, by his first wife and the mother of his children, Miriam Frances McGrath McCloud, infant son, George Patrick McCloud and step-son, Richard Dennis Donahue. Dorothy was born in Memphis, TN. She graduated high school at the age of 16 went to college at Southwestern College at Memphis where she received her Bachelors degree. She continued her education with George Washington University where she received her Masters degree in Economics.


Dorothy began her professional career in 1943 as an economist for the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. For the next 30 plus years, she had a successful career as a civil servant spending more than 19 years at the Federal Reserve. Dorothy retired from the Social Security Administration in the late 1970’s. In her last role, she was the Director of the Division of Economic and Long Range Studies. Dorothy’s expertise resulted in numerous writings presented in both government research and academic journals such as The Journal Of Economic Literature, Journal Of Human Resources and American Economic Review . She enjoyed bird watching, classical music, reading, learning to use the computer, doing exercise and spending time with as well as caring for her beloved husband Theodore (Ted).


Dorothy is survived by her devoted husband and love of her life Ted. They were married more than 60 years. In addition to her husband, Dorothy is survived by her sisters Ruth Fischer of Wilmington, DE and Clara Belleson (Burt) of Brooklyn Park, MN. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.


In keeping with Dorothy’s wishes there was no public service.


The family would like to send a special thank you to the people of Maris Grove, those at Bayada Nursing and the staff of Crozier Keystone Hospice for all their support during Dorothy’s last years.
