The 21st Washington Jewish Film Festival gets underway with a red-carpet screening at the Avalon of “La Rafl e” (“The Round-Up”), Roselyne Bosch’s drama based on events of 1942, when the Vichy government in France rounded up thousands of Parisian Jews and transported them to extermination camps. Bosch will be at the screening of the fi lm, which stars Jean Reno and Melanie Laurent. This year’s festival includes documentaries about baseball, bagels and the artist Grace Paley, as well as a sneak preview of John Madden’s Mossad drama, “The Debt,” starring Helen Mirren and Sam Worthington. // Thursday through Dec. 12 at venues throughout the city. 202-777-3231. www.wjff.org. $25 opening and closing nights, $10 evenings and weekends.
