3. WHITE SANDS NATIONAL MONUMENT Spend the day, your way, taking advantage of the resort’s many recreational activities, including bird watching, hiking, fishing, horseback riding, golf, boating and more (additional costs may apply), or exploring nearby sights on Tauck’s optional sightseeing excursions. Get a close-up look of the world’s largest gypsum sand dune field, covering some 275 square miles of desert, at the White Sands National Monument, and join us for a visit to the Hubbard Museum in nearby Ruidoso. Dinner tonight is at your resort’s signature restaurant, Wendell’s. Meals BD
4. OLD TOWN ALBUQUERQUE / SANTA FE Stop to see the Lincoln State Monument on your way to Albuquerque, the place to indulge your interests about old Spanish churches, adobe architecture, arts and crafts... and red chilies! Explore the city’s Old Town on your own, perhaps visiting the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, and continue to Santa Fe for three nights. Dine at leisure at the Old House restaurant. Meals BD
5. THE MANY FLAVORS OF LIFE IN SANTA FE See a rich cultural mix of Native American, Spanish and Old West influences on a guided walking tour of Santa Fe. 6. ANCIENT PUEBLO DE TAOS
Taos’ desert and mountain landscapes invite discovery today. Venture outside of the city to Ranchos de Taos to see the 18th-century San Francisco de Asís Mission Church and legendary Pueblo de Taos, the only living Native American community designated both a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a National Historic Landmark. Storyteller Roberta Meyer shares the legends of the region before a walk to the pueblos over the dramatic Rio Grande Gorge Bridge – spectacular views provide an awesome backdrop for her fascinating stories. Explore terraced communal dwellings that have been continuously inhabited for over 1,000 years and return to Santa Fe and learn more about the daily lives of the Pueblo people. Meals B
7. SANTA FE ART / BANDELIER / ALBUQUERQUE A private morning visit to the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum showcases some 3,000 works of art by this prolific artist. Bandelier National Monument lays claim to being one of North America’s oldest human settlements; stop and take a close look at its remarkable cliff dwellings as we travel to your resort in Albuquerque for an overnight stay and a farewell dinner. Dinner tonight is a culinary treat! Meals BD
