In total International SOS completed 90
evacuations out of Haiti and helped hundreds of other clients to find alternative evacuation routes out of the country. The alarm center network handled more than 3,000 medical and security calls from members, ranging from verifying various governmental evacuation plans to preparing workers to go back into Haiti. Around 13 separate travel security email alerts and a medical email reached International SOS clients. “Reconstruction and relief efforts in Haiti will last many years so we expect to be helping our clients in that area for the long haul,” says Colin Gilbert. “Looking ahead, we advise organizations in Haiti to have an integrated risk management program in
place together with an emergency response plan. That’s the best way they can protect the safety and well-being of their staff, accomplish their missions and protect their reputations.” ■
