Daks

Emporio Armani Fashion Trends Autumn/Winter 2011 -

Quirky Heritage - Women Vertiginous, impractical heels are relegated

to the past as designers embrace the appeal of masculinity and update the humble brogue. Overlooking frivolity in favour of functional practicality, styles are rendered with a considered fashionable flair as librarian chic goes considerably upmarket. Perfect paired with a chunky sock and floaty florals or cropped cigarette pants and the ubiquitous trench, the brogue comes with a quirky appeal that complements heritage and tradition. Daks’ nod to disco glamour results in striking

metallic gold uppers, the subtly reflective surface at odds with the severe mannish connotations. Contrast laces or toe details – finished with oversized looped tassels – add an appropriate excess without distracting from the origins of the style.

Stacked heels elevate chunky silhouettes –

execute in a coordinating fabrication to promote a seamless style and avoid overt feminine nuances. Detailing borrows from original ideals, as kiltie fringing is applied to tan lace-up boots at Tory Burch and to Sportmax’s burgundy suede booties – that come complete with D-rings and a peep-toe - fusing an implied sportswear aesthetic with a bookish charm. Massimo Rebecchi’s color-blocked uppers

pair mustard yellow with brick red – as clashing hues transcend from garments to accessories, similarly Armani blends undulating snakeskin leathers – blue with tan – to create a contemporary stiletto. Soft leathers reiterate a masculine appeal, experiment with mis-matched textures for a relevant yet reinvigorated classic.

Brown Brogue Update The minimal aesthetic of the oxford fuses with brogue sensibilities, resulting in a slim-line silhouette that nods to masculine and feminine styles. Austere Amish connotations are subverted with subtle studs or high-polished finishes, classic tans easily translated to various colorways, in a further update of the style.

Tassel Bootie Easy-wear pull on booties are detailed with a contrasting upper, as chocolate collides with tan. A pop of blue – on tassel and seam – reiterates a youthful harmony, as the bootie easily transcending from day to eveningwear. Experiment with heel shapes – a chunky or wooden detail promoting the appeal of the Seventies.

Sturdy Winter Hiker Practical hiking boots design details – buckles, D-rings and sturdy lacing – are offset with luxe fabrications and intense colorways. Placing emphasis on fashion over function a stiletto heel indicates a preference for the urban jungle over natural terrain.
