SEASON TO SEASON WITH SIENA’S DIVISION I 1,000-POINT SCORERS Who PlayedWhen? Siena basketball has enjoyed some landmark seasons since turning Division I prior to the 1976-77 season. Below, we highlight some of those memorable years, noting which 1,000-point scorers played during those years. Note: Each 1000-point scorer since 1987-88 has made at least one postseason appearance in his career.

1988-1989 (25-5) (Steve McCoy, Jeffrey Robinson, Marc Brown, Mike Brown, Bruce Schroeder) • NAC Regular-Season and Tournament Champions •Won at Pittsburgh (80-79) – first Non-Big East conference opponent to win in the Pittsburgh Civic Center in six years


• NCAA Tournament: defeated #13 ranked Stanford (80-78); lost to Minnesota (80-67) at Greensboro Coliseum


1990-91 (25-10) (Marc Brown, Lee Matthews, Doremus Bennerman) • Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Regular-Season co-Champions • Postseason NIT: Defeated Fairleigh Dickinson (90-85) and South Carolina (ranked in top-20 during season) (63-58); lost toMassachusetts (82-80) in overtime


1993-94 (25-8) (Doremus Bennerman, GeoffWalker) • Postseason NIT Semifinals (third-place finish) • Defeated Richmond 88-57 • Posted 73-62 win at Texas A&M • Postseason NIT: defeated Georgia Tech (76-68), Tulane (89-79), Bradley (75-62) and Kansas State (92-79); semifinal loss to Villanova (66-58)


1998-99 (25-6) (Marcus Faison, Jim Cantamessa, Corey Osinski, Scott Knapp, Dwayne Archbold) • MAAC Regular-Season Co-Champions and Tournament Champions •Won Sparkletts Invitational at Pepperdine • 94-80 NCAA Tournament loss to Arkansas, McNichols Arena, Denver, Colo.


1999-00 (24-9) (Marcus Faison, Jim Cantamessa, Corey Osinski, Scott Knapp, Dwayne Archbold, Prosper Karangwa) • MAAC Regular-Season Champions • Pre-Season NIT: defeated Davidson (89-79); lost to Notre Dame (107-96) • 94-91 win at GeorgeWashington • 93-72 win vs. Rhode Island • Postseason NIT: defeated Massachusetts (66-65); lost at Penn State (105-103)


2001-2002 (17-19) (Dwayne Archbold, Prosper Karangwa, Tommy Mitchell) • MAAC Tournament Champions • Defeated Alcorn State 81-77 in Opening Round of NCAA Tournament at University of Dayton Arena

In 1998-99, four future 1,000-point scorers played on the same team. Marcus Faison (left), Corey Osinski (with ball), Scott Knapp (center), and Jim Cantamessa (right), each played in the NIT and NCAA tournaments.

• Lost to the #1 overall team in the country Louisville (79-72) in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament at the UD Arena in Dayton, Ohio.


2009-10 (27-7) (Edwin Ubiles, Alex Franklin, Ronald Moore) • MAAC Regular-Season and Tournament Champions • Set a program-record with 15 consecutive wins • Lost to #4 seed Purdue (72-64) in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament at Spokane Arena in Spokane,Wash.
