1. ARRIVE ZURICH AND ON TO LUCERNE Tour begins: 4:00 PM, Palace Luzern. A transfer is included from Zurich International Airport to the Palace Luzern. Start your alpine adventure in the storybook city of Lucerne. Meet up at your century-old grand hotel, then it’s off to the Swiss Museum of Transport for a guided interactive visit, followed by a private welcome reception and dinner in the museum restaurant. 2. COG RAILWAY & ROPE PARK FUN After checking out Lucerne’s cobblestone streets, bridges, fountains and the Löwendenkmal (Lion Memorial) on a city tour, ride the world’s steepest cogwheel train from Alpnachstad up to the top of Mt. Pilatus; legend has it that dragons dwell in its cliffs and caves... as well as the ghost of Pontius Pilate! Descend by aerial cableway past Alpine peaks to Fraekmuentegg, where more family fun awaits at Switzerland’s largest rope park* or longest summer toboggan run*. AN EMPEROR & A SKI JUMPER IN INNSBRUCK It’s across the Alps we go today from St. Moritz in Switzerland to Innsbruck, Austria, whose well-preserved historic Old Town reflects its 15th-century heyday as the capital city of Emperor Maximilian I’s Habsburg Empire. You and your family can even say hi to “old Emperor Max” and his wives when they make an “appearance” during your guided walking tour! Later, watch a thrilling ski-jumping demonstration at Innsbruck’s recently built, high-tech Bergisel ski jump, designed by star architect Zaha Hadid; then settle in at your acclaimed mountain resort for a two-night stay in the heart of the Austrian Alps.
