Day 3. Ancient Memphis / Sakkara / Dahshur Ancient Memphis was the first capital of Egypt’s “Old Kingdom”; the ruins you’ll see during today’s visit include the statue of Ramesses II and the Alabaster Sphinx – you probably learned about them in school! Learn the secrets of pyramid design through the centuries as we visit nearby Sakkara and the Royal Tombs of Dahshur; see the Step Pyramid of Djoser and explore the Teti Pyramid. Because you’re traveling with Tauck, you’ll be able to go inside one the site’s oldest private tombs! Tonight, enjoy a sound and light show set against the inspiring backdrop of the Pyramids and the Sphinx in Giza. Meals BL
Day 4. Fly to Luxor / Temples & Luxor Museum Fly aboard our charter flight to Luxor, site of the ancient city of Thebes. Take a look at the treasures of Upper Egypt on a guided visit to the remarkable Luxor Museum. You’ll have time to explore the town of Luxor, one of the world’s most extraordinary “open-air” museums, at

cities and towns; and royal encounters at the ancient temples of Abu Simbel
leisure; its antiquities include the great temple complex of Luxor, along with many pylons, sphinxes and obelisks. It’s all aboard for a sunset cocktail cruise on a local boat called a felucca, followed by dinner at your hotel, where your room overlooks the River Nile. Meals BLD
Day 5. Valley of the Kings / Embark Ship If you wish, rise early for a thrilling, optional hot air balloon ride over the Valleys of the Kings and Queens (available for an additional $160 per person). Everyone views Queen Hatshepsut’s temple en route to the secluded Valley of the Kings on the Nile’s west bank, site of over 60 pharaohs’ tombs. Tauck’s Egyptologist will share stories about the tombs you’ll see on your visit to Medinet Habu and the Valley of the Queens. Your four-night cruise aboard the Nile Adventurer begins this afternoon. Settle into your cabin, before joining us ashore for a private horse-drawn carriage ride through the temple complex at Luxor – all lit up for the evening – and the local bazaar. Ancient Egyptians loved to dance and so do their modern-day ancestors. See belly dancers tonight aboard ship and try some of their moves yourself! Meals BLD
