Day 4. Cable cars & mountain bikes in the Engadine Valley An exciting day in the Swiss Alps begins with a cable car ride up an alpine peak for breathtaking views of the upper Engadine lakes. There’s no more beautiful place for a scenic, leisurely mountain bike ride* from Sils through the lake plateau to St. Moritz. Day 5. Meet an emperor and a ski jumper in old Innsbruck Across the Alps we go from Switzerland to Innsbruck, Austria, whose Old Town reflects its 15th-century days as the capital of Emperor Maximilian I’s Habsburg Empire. Say hi to “old Max” and his wives when they make an “appearance” during your guided walking tour! Later, watch a thrilling ski-jumping demonstration at Innsbruck’s high-tech Bergisel ski jump, designed by architect Zaha Hadid; enjoy a two-night stay in the heart of the Austrian Alps. Meals BD
Day 6. Whitewater fun in the Alpine sun at Area 47 Get set for a day of watery fun at Area 47 – “Europe’s ultimate outdoor playground” in the Ötztal Valley – where you’ll don a neoprene suit and helmet for a whitewater river-rafting adventure*, and spend some time on the slides and other attractions of one of Europe’s newest and biggest water parks. Tonight, feast on Tyrolean fare at a special Alpine evening at the Ropferstub’m – an authentic mountain Hütte boasting great views, fun, games and music in a campfire setting. Meals BLD
Day 7. On to Bavaria, Neuschwanstein Castle and Munich You’re off to Germany, where a horse-drawn carriage takes you up to the inspiration for Sleeping Beauty’s castle – Neuschwanstein, built in the late 1800s by Bavaria’s King Ludwig II – for a tour. Have lunch at a Gasthof en route to Munich for a free afternoon and tonight’s farewell
dinner at the Spatenhaus. Stay at the historic Bayerischer Hof, from which you can easily explore more of Munich as you wish. Meals BLD
