specialize in helping them select one or two pieces that make them happy to come home to. We get couples and singles that have worked their entire lives and have lifelong dreams of living in the mountains. We cater to both vacation homeowners and full-time residents of Big Canoe who are furnishing libraries, dens, bathrooms, kitchens, terrace levels, and bedrooms, mixing our furniture with the pieces they already have.

: You work closely with clients. Can you tell me about those relationships? A: We love our clients and
the beauty of America and our natural resources. They build uniquely American heirloom furniture. Q: I’ve got $3,000 to spend on
decorating my home. Where do I start? A: Take advantage of our design team,
who recently spent one day in a client’s home rearranging and placing the existing furniture, lighting, and artwork. Then we identified what pieces were missing and used the remaining budget to add a rug, sofa, and chair. We moved furnishings from a lodge room to the homeowner’s office, giving the lodge room a completely new

couples moving to the mountains and adding foundational pieces that offer a good look for a reasonable price. Our clients realize we’re a good value compared to North Carolina furniture manufacturers. We offer excellent customer service and solid wood, well-made furniture. I want my homeowners happy and coming back to me year after year. Q: How are Lakota Cove’s furniture
pieces unique from what I might find in other area showrooms? A: I have relationships with 400
American artists and craftsmen from my travels in the early stages of my business when I started with five dollars and a birdhouse. Our main suppliers are 40 families that have been building furniture for generations. One of our craftsmen builds furniture from black walnut trees his family planted 200 years ago. It was so exciting to see a family fall in love with one of his swirled black walnut coffee tables with tree limbs as the legs. You can’t get old black walnut anymore. His furniture, and that of all of our artists, captures

look. Then we developed a plan to add bar stools, porch furniture, and accessories in the future. In only two days, our team created a home interior that says “Welcome home to the mountains,” when our clients entered their front door. Q: What if I have only $300 to spend?
Can Lakota Cove work within my budget? A: Absolutely. We just recovered two
chairs overlooking a beautiful window in a client’s home, but their lamp was quite plain. They spent $150 on a tall lamp with a leather shade and its base was a sculpture
bed and nightstand. Whether you want traditional, wood log, or iron and pinecones, you still start there. Select a statement piece that adds character: a dresser with hand painted scenes by our artists, or furniture with antlers, cowhide, and twigging. We have craftsmen who can coordinate the color and stain of your bed and make the dresser to complement it. Traditional manufacturers are offering furniture with designs reflecting nature: leaves, trees, pinecones, and acorns.
Add beautiful color on your walls. I love
Benjamin Moore’s Lenox Tan and Sherman William’s Nomadic Desert. We decorated a Choctaw home in tan colors on the main walls and trim, then added drama by using darker colors in the bedroom and upper level. Find gorgeous bedding: Pendleton
wool and cotton bedding sets in white and chocolate, as well as softer colors, are big trends. We carry them all. Add books and coffee cups to give the
room a bed and breakfast atmosphere. Q: Everyone is on a budget, whether
large or small. What items should I splurge on and where can I cut corners? A: Select one or two statement pieces
that you love. For the den, go for a dynamic, one-of-a-kind coffee table. You can save
