erry Hynes loves Big Canoe. He poses a simple question: “Who could ask for a greater place to live and build?” Jerry and his family can answer that question firsthand. Big Canoe
residents for six years, they know how special our community is and use that knowledge to assist their clients. Bringing more than 40 years of home building experience to the table, Hynes Construction was founded in 1994 combining unsurpassed craftsmanship and superior customer service. Since 1994, Hynes has built over 300 homes; more than 60 here inside the gates. Truly a family business, President Jerry Hynes,
his wife Bobbie and son Mike McEachern believe that every family has a unique set of needs when it comes to building a home. Taking pride in their personalized customer service, Jerry is always available during the home building process. Each client has Jerry’s cell and home numbers for easy access. By keeping communication open with subcontractors, he keeps close tabs on building schedules and costs. “I like the hands-on approach,” states Jerry. “It’s a lot easier to make changes as you go along than to go back and re-do something later.” By encouraging each client to become involved in the process, it promotes an exciting and enjoyable experience for all. A personal drive for excellence sets Hynes

Combining a passion for the painting business with a zeal for mountain living, Susan gave up the Atlanta corporate scene for a better way of life here in Big Canoe. Control and knows what it takes to change your home’s exterior color. Inside the Gate uses nothing but “top of the line” products for jobs and Susan knows that preparation is key to a perfect painting project. Scraping, sanding and caulking are just as important as finding the right color. Speaking of color, Susan says to “look for updated approvable colors after the next Big Canoe Architectural Control Board Meeting.” While 85% of her jobs are exterior, Inside the Gate offers interior painting as well. As all Big Canoe residents are aware, there is much more to painting here than in other
communities. That’s why it’s so important to put your trust in an experienced Big Canoe neighbor, Susan Richardson, at Inside the Gate Painting.
When people make the move to Big Canoe,
they expect a well-built house. While many builders use similar materials, quality construction is the mark of a “hands on” custom builder. Unsurpassed craftsmanship, superior planning and the finest materials are just part of the reason Hynes Construction has so many fans here in Big Canoe. Benjamin Godwin of Hyacinth Hill stated “Whenever we called and whatever we asked, your team was available to make sure our needs were met.” As a seasoned home buyer, Benjamin went on to say, “… the quality of your construction and the attitude of your team in getting the finishing touches handled were second to none.” Hynes outstanding reputation is the result of long-term relationships, open communication, and quality construction. What is for some a stressful time, Jerry and his team make home building a delightful experience. Besides homes in Big Canoe, Hynes Construction
also builds homes in Bent Tree, Lake Arrowhead, The Preserve at Sharptop Mountain and the Estates at Sharp Mountain Creek. With an office conveniently located in the Foothills Shopping Center, it’s a snap to drop in and see what Jerry has to offer. In addition to plans and pictures of homes he has built, Jerry works with a home designer who can tailor any plan to a family’s individual needs. And, he adds, “Because we live here and know the community, we are able to make building a house as stress free as possible.”

She also wants to spend her newfound free time participating in Big Canoe’s “Literary Lunch.” Hosted by local author and college professor Harris Green, the group meets at the clubhouse to discuss poetry and literature.
