White Interiors of Dawsonville: beautifying north Georgia homes

hen guests walk into White Interiors in Dawsonville, they are instantly enveloped in a rich, warm environment.

That friendly greeting from a member of White Interiors might take a second to register once guests view their lavish surroundings. Beautiful seems too trite a description for the pieces Lauren Salter has assembled in the showroom. They are exquisite, yet tasteful, from the intricately carved letter opener to the massive custom made farm table.

One of the first eye-catching items seen just inside the door is a one-of-a-kind hand painted trunk. A local craftsman handmade the stunning piece. Nearby is a cozy leather sofa with a unique lamp perched on a handsome antique end table. Under the trunk is a hand knotted Sumac rug with the same deep rust colors as the pillows on the sofa. Shoppers will find so many amazing clusters of furniture and accessories throughout the store and none quite the same as another.

White Interiors is a full service design firm that has been doing business in Dawsonville for nearly four years. Interior design is a multi-faceted job in which creativity and technical solutions must work in accord to achieve a particular environment. At times, homeowners may find themselves overwhelmed with thoughts of decorating a home or even a single room . . . the perfect time to call in a professional.

Lauren Salter wears many hats at White Interiors; she’s the buyer, manager and designer. Lauren had her own design

business in North Fulton for many years, but has been working happily beautifying area interiors for a year now. An equally talented and creative team works with Lauren at White Interiors: Rachel, Hunter, Lisa and Susan are also available to assist clients with any size design project. With years of combined experience, there’s no project too complex for this team of professionals.

Original paintings from artists as close as Dawsonville and Dahlonega grace the walls of White Interiors. Many of the artists and craftsmen Lauren works with will do custom pieces, so if you are looking to have a painting of your home commissioned, or an oval farm table that seats ten, White Interiors is the place to go.

If a customer were to come in the door

and say: “I’m looking for a very specific piece for my dining room and haven’t been able to find it,” these words would be music to the ears of the staff at White Interiors. If Lauren doesn’t have the piece you are hunting in stock, she’ll know either where to find it or who to call to have it made. Like a treasure hunter, Lauren will locate the perfect gem for your room. Clients are leaning towards a more “organic approach” when it comes to current home designs. Creating that natural feel can be attained on, quite literally, many levels. Hand knotted wool rugs, leather upholstery, natural wood barstools with cow hide covered cushions, weathered wood dressers, and draperies that let the natural light in.

Homes in Big Canoe and Achasta, Lauren notes, usually have so much wood, clients are often searching for ways to

soften their environments. Through the use of paint, fabrics, lighting and rugs, homeowners can enhance the natural look

that is already there.

What about all the tricky windows found in a typical mountain home? Not a problem, Lauren says. There are many ways to create drapes that won’t block the views and will pull all the colors in the room together.

White Interiors is involved in the community it serves. Owner Judith Johnson delights in giving back to the people of North Georgia. When the Dawson County food pantry supplies got low last year, White Interiors offered a 10 percent discount to customers that brought in canned goods. A member of both the Dawson and Dahlonega Chambers, Judith is also a patron of the Holly Theater. White Interiors is a “fun place to work” Lauren stated. “We love our customers and have a true feeling of family here.” Next time you’re in Dawsonville, stop by to say hello and have a look around, you’ll be glad you did.

An elegantly rustic farmhouse dining room table is highlighted by a room-brightening chandelier and artwork.
