and residing in Big Canoe since 2000, Dan knows the special concerns of building in Big Canoe and guides his clients through the building process, from lot selection to move-in date, with confidence and ease. Growing up in the construction industry, Dan has over 30 years of experience as a skilled tradesman (HVAC), real estate agent, and production builder, with the last 10 years as a builder in Big Canoe. When Dan started building in Big Canoe, his first homes were similar to the homes he built in suburban Atlanta. He soon realized that in order to build on the challenging terrain and to provide homes that really had that Big Canoe style, a custom home design and building process was the way to go. In 2004, Dan added residential designer Chad Spangler to his team. For 12 years Chad has specialized in designing custom homes in Big Canoe.

With in-house custom home design, Dan DeJiacomo created a truly integrated approach to home design and building. Homes are designed to complement the unique topography of each lot, with a special focus on maximizing views. While Chad works with the clients to design

Dan’s custom approach continues throughout the construction process. While under construction, the homeowner has the opportunity to pick the decorative finishes of their home. Dan has developed an organized process for these selections with a project coordinator and decorator in place to guide the homeowner through the decisions. misconception that he was only interested in building large, high-end homes. While it’s true that Dan has built a number of these majestic properties, he strives to bring the same custom home design ability, attention to detail, and quality construction to homes of any size and budget. Currently, Dan is seeing a shift towards smaller homes with higher levels of interior and exterior finishes. These homes have less square footage but incorporate more stone, nicer woodwork and cabinets, upgraded appliances and other features that used to be only found in much larger homes.

Dan DeJiacomo Custom Homes is a member of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association and the National Association of Home Builders. In addition, Dan and his residential designer, Chad Spangler, are also NAHB Certified Green Professionals that can assist with the design and construction of homes that are highly energy efficient, as well as healthier and more comfortable for the homeowners. Dan and his wife Karen have been residents of Big Canoe for ten years. They moved here with their three children who all graduated from Pickens High School with honors. Both DeJiacomo sons earned degrees from Georgia colleges, one from Berry and the other UGA. Karen and Dan’s daughter is currently playing on the golf team at Lee University in Tennessee.
