OCTOBER 2010 For Squeaky Clean, windows are just the beginning
the sunshine stream once again through the panes of your castle in the woods. What’s not to like about that? Gilbert Simpson was welcomed
P
into the Pickens community five years ago after marrying a life-long resident of Jasper, Christi Filkins Simpson. Staying in Jasper was a priority since the couple loves the small town feeling and warm family atmosphere it offers. They believe community involvement is important to help others and to feel part of a bigger whole. Gilbert and Christi started
Squeaky Clean Windows, LLC as a family owned and operated business. Gilbert heads his team of cleaning experts while Christi runs the office and handles the marketing for Squeaky Clean. With a background in graphic art design, Christi offers an artistic touch to the business. The couple prides themselves

sparkling windows to the world, the company also offers interior and exterior painting, hot water pressure washing, gutter and downspout cleaning, deck and cabin staining, epoxy garage flooring and color chip floors. Gilbert developed his company to help customers maintain their homes well and also add fresh touches to make it feel new again. Work estimates are often available
the same day a customer calls since Gilbert knows that, with window cleaning especially, a homeowner will reach a point of thinking, “I can’t stand it one more minute – these windows have to be cleaned!” Soon streaks, cobwebs, dirt and grime will be worries of the past. The Squeaky Clean office is

on customer service, customer satisfaction and quality of workmanship while offering a better product at a reasonable price. They work with homeowners to develop a plan to meet specific needs and won’t leave the job until the customer is fully satisfied and all expectations met. Repeat and referral customers tell the Squeaky Clean story the best. “We strive to run Squeaky Clean by the book and keep Christ at the center of our

casual and laid back. If Gilbert’s team isn’t out on a job, they can be found playing a friendly game of pool or napping on the couch. The sense of camaraderie is strong and the men have a “can do” attitude which leads to solid teamwork.
“All our customers bring us joy,” Gilbert remarks with a smile. “Some when we
get to the job, and some when we leave. Seriously, I’ve never felt so welcomed into a community or satisfied in my job. We say it all the time, but it’s worth saying again – Thank you to all our customers! You are the lifeblood of this and every business. Without you, we would have to close our doors. If there is anything we can ever do for you, please don’t hesitate to ask.”
Gatewood Hall: A gracious home within reach C
orky Gatewood and Shawn Hall have been beautifying spaces together for nearly thirteen years. Collaborating on interior design
projects- from rugs to fixtures, everywhere from Fulton to Fannin- their passion is exceptional design and gracious living.
Owning a second home in the North Georgia Mountains for nearly ten years; their devotion to design and tasteful mountain living led naturally to a retail endeavor. In 2006, Corky and Shawn opened their store, Gatewood Hall Gracious Home, in Historic Downtown Blue Ridge.
Recently named one of the “2010 Fifty Retail Stars” in the nation by Home Accents Today and AmericasMart, Gatewood Hall Gracious Home has been featured in Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles, Southern Lady and Simply Southern magazines. From their quaint shop, Corky and Shawn were involved in both grand scale interior design projects in dream vacation homes as well as smaller room restyling projects. All while selling fabulous finds for the home. Outgrowing their space led Corky and Shawn to their new, larger location on Depot Street in the old Blue Ridge Post Office. Early this year they nearly tripled their space, making a spectacular showroom for their lifestyle store featuring one-of-a-kind gifts, art, luxurious linens and just about everything savvy shoppers need to improve a living space. Next door to the store is the Design Center at Gatewood Hall, creating a separate design space for clients. When asked about the current trends, Corky stated, “We are seeing many of our clients choose a more casual and gathered look. Our customers
