CommScope launches global BusinessPartner Program

CommScope has launched its global BusinessPartner Program for 2011 and introduced its new Solution BusinessPartner accreditation. By initiating global consistency in the requirements

and rewards for BusinessPartners across the world, the new program establishes a process for evolving existing BusinessPartner capabilities to support cutting edge wired and wireless infrastructure solutions, as well as connecting with new organisations that have the expertise, coverage and capabilities to support CommScope’s rapidly evolving solution portfolio. With the addition of the Solution BusinessPartner

accreditation, CommScope recognises the endeavours of existing and future BusinessPartners to advance complete solution capabilities by becoming qualified designers and installers of CommScope’s integrated connectivity offerings. ‘With the new CommScope BusinessPartner Program,

we’re enabling customers to connect to the right partners at the right levels while evolving into solutions with the performance, reliability and intelligence capabilities to support network and bandwidth requirements of the future,’ said Stephen Kowal, vice president global channel sales, CommScope. ‘By implementing globally consistent measurements and rewards for our BusinessPartners, we are establishing a superior quality global support program in the network infrastructure industry.’

Panduit opens first UK customer briefing centre in London

Panduit has opened a new Customer Briefing Centre (CBC) in the heart of London. Panduit’s new CBC will house a working demonstration data centre to showcase the firm’s latest UPI solutions, which help businesses to connect, manage and automate networks and communications. Kenny Presly, UK and Ireland

area manager at Panduit, said, ‘This is a very exciting development for us, it’s the first time that UK customers can see first hand how our world class technology can easily improve operational efficiencies. ‘Visitors can view Panduit’s Net-Access cabinets containing high density patching and cable

management solutions and passive cooling systems such as the Net-Access server cabinet cooling door and the Cool Boot raised floor air sealing grommets. ‘All these solutions help reduce cooling systems power requirements by managing warm air away from active equipment and will significantly reduce energy bills.’

Brocade research reveals consolidation is high on IT agenda

In a bid to increase network performance, simplify management and enhance business efficiency, more than three quarters of enterprises across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) are looking to consolidate their existing IT infrastructure in the next 12 months, according to new research commissioned by Brocade. The research found that 76 per cent of enterprises consider IT consolidation to be one of the top three IT issues they face in the coming year, followed by both virtualisation and security.

The 600 EMEA CIOs questioned in this study expect tomorrow’s corporate networks to fulfil a wide range of sometimes conflicting demands. They want unprecedented scalability but reduced management complexity (61 per cent). They demand seamless mobility and increased agility (38 per cent), and nearly half want emerging networking technologies to complement the investments they are making today, instead of forcing them to refresh the entire environment in a wholesale ‘rip-and-replace’ exercise, while reducing the total cost of ownership. ‘Tomorrow’s networking environment will consolidate user application traffic and storage data traffic onto a single, high performance, highly available network that has the built-in intelligence to identify different traffic types and handle them appropriately, according to predefined rules. The benefits of a unified network are clear in terms of increasing performance and enabling business productivity, not to mention reducing complexity,’ stated Alberto Soto, Brocade vice president, EMEA.

Aruba Networks completes Azalea acquisition

Aruba Networks has completed its acquisition of privately held Azalea Networks, a leading supplier of outdoor mesh networks. The acquisition includes an operations centre in Beijing which will complement Aruba’s existing R&D centres in Bangalore and Silicon Valley. Azalea Networks develops highly differentiated

mesh products for critical outdoor industrial applications in the oil and gas, logistics, manufacturing, mining, petrochemical, public safety, smar t grid and transpor tation sectors. These products will enable Aruba to deliver secure mobility solutions that span from indoor carpeted spaces to the outdoor industrial enterprise.

In a mesh network, data packets hop wirelessly

from radio to radio. Azalea’s mesh technology allows it to also carry latency sensitive video and voice traffic, with full fidelity, over long distances. The value of this capability has been field proven in demanding applications like the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, in which 600 mesh nodes provided voice, video, and Wi-Fi access over 19 square miles of the city.
