Brennig Bayliss, Shift Performance Manager said: “Tony Jones put his money where his mouth is when he first took control. He made a promise to us about the Stakeholder Scheme way back then and it’s great that he kept to that promise.”

Folder Operator Phil Price said: “I’ve been at Pensord for 32 years, and in the old days we had a similar scheme, but not much came of it. I must be honest and say that based on my experience, I didn’t think this one would amount to much, but I’m totally overjoyed as this is beyond expectations.”

Pre-Press Operator Keith Parsons said: “I wasn’t sure what to expect when the share options idea was first mooted, but everyone’s very happy – we really didn’t realise the extent of the payout.”

Folding Operator David Stainer said: “The company wasn’t in great shape back in 2003, so we really didn’t think the share options would be worth anything. Hats off to him, Tony obviously had this in mind all along, to give us something back for our efforts, and it’s come as a very nice surprise I can tell you. I’m also very relieved that now Tony has achieved what he wanted to, and is moving on, we will be led by Darren and Karl who we work with and know well. That must also be very reassuring for our customers.”

Perfect Binding Operator Andy Todd said: “The money came as a very pleasant surprise. I must admit I was a bit sceptical at first, but I’m so glad I signed up. This was Tony’s way of saying thank you to everyone for what they’ve put in.”

Receptionist Sheryl Fears said: “I was thrilled with the Stakeholder Scheme, I never dreamt it would realise that amount, it was such a lovely surprise.”

Title Manager Jane Smith said: “I was more than pleased when Tony gave us the chance to take up the options, and this was an added bonus when Darren announced just how much they were worth.”

Paper Buyer Sian Drobac said: “This came as a lovely surprise, it’s a bonus I hadn’t thought about, and I’m delighted to see it come to fruition.”

Despatch Clerk Theresa Price said: “When they were launched I thought that was a really nice gesture of Tony’s, but I put them aside and didn’t really think much about them, so this came as a really pleasant surprise.”

Presshall Overseer Colin Watson said: “That was a great return for my £8.”
