Pensord Publication Health Check

How our eagle eyes reduce costs for customers

It is vitally important that today’s publishers ensure they are working as efficiently as possible and getting maximum value for money with each pound of printing spend, but how does a publisher really know whether they are print efficient or not?

Newly promoted New Business Co-ordinator and Head of Estimating and Costing, Louise Williams, explains the value in Pensord’s Publication Health Check, and the company’s customer-first approach:

“Pensord’s Publication Health Check does exactly what it says on the tin – all aspects of its production and all component parts are considered to establish whether the publication is being produced cost effectively.

All possible alternative options are weighed up for suitability.

“We’ve had a number of requests for a Publication Health Check, and we’ve been able to deliver savings for publishers, or demonstrate areas where money was being wasted. It can be an extremely rewarding experience for a publisher whatever the outcome – if savings are identified that’s hugely positive, but to be reassured you are working in the most efficient and cost-effective

manner is also very nice to hear.”

As part of her new role, Louise will now be proactively contacting Pensord’s publishing customers to promote the Health Check service. The aim is to eventually undertake a Health Check for all the titles under Pensord’s stewardship.

Louise adds: “The Health Check is free to all publishers and not just customers. We’re here to serve publishers and this is just one of the ways we can add extra value.”

We’ve helped reduce their costs, how about yours?

Publisher A saved money on their database

We identified that 20% of their mailing database was made up of incomplete addresses and the copies printed and distributed not only risked not finding their way to the intended recipient, but also cost more to send as they didn’t qualify for mailing discounts.

Publisher B saved money on fulfilment

This company was able to save a significant amount by changing to an alternative mailing fulfilment agent after being advised that their titles met the qualifying criteria.

Publisher C saved £2,000 by changing the spec without compromising on quality

We looked at paper bulk and stock, marginally different page sizes, pagination – and mailing – and provided significant savings.
