Higher Concept on the move

Popular hire industry software supplier Higher

Concept Software has re-located to larger premises in Caversham, Reading. Founded in 1988, its Syrinx software package is now in use with over 700 hirers throughout the world, comprising 600 in the UK and Ireland, 100 in Australia and a small, but growing, number of large users in the Middle East. Higher Concept’s Sales and Marketing Director, Katy Williams, comments, “the move to larger premises reflects our continued strong performance. We are excited both by the move and the continuing expansion of our support and development teams.” As we start the countdown to next year’s Executive Hire Show, MD Mark Goodrum is already trialling PDAs with selected customers and plans a major launch at next February’s Show. “Customers are testing our PDAs under real-life conditions. We will evaluate their feedback and I’m confident that we’ll have them ready for general release at the Show.” The Higher Concept software package continues to be successful with UK hirers. One such hirer that bought a Syrinx system at this year’s Show was Bullimores Sand & Gravel Ltd. MD Chris Bullimore told EHN, “plant hire is an essential element of our aggregates business and we wanted to update our computer system to reflect this. We visited the Show for the first time as a platform to see what was available. We had demonstrations of both the leading systems on show. Higher Concept appealed to us, as it was enthusiastic throughout the process. We’re delighted with the system.”

SPE takes to the road

Surface preparation machinery supplier, SPE, recently completed a successful promotional Roadshow event at the premises of various hirers throughout the UK. The displays were hosted by companies who either already offer this type of equipment, or are actively looking to expand into this market, and customers were invited along to watch demonstrations of the machines.

A competition to win a new SPE DFG200 110V single head floor grinder was held during the three weeks of the Roadshow, and the winner was subsequently announced as Paul Chapman of Hire Station, who is pictured (right) receiving the prize from SPE Sales Director, Paul Mansfield. Other hirers who participated included WH surface Preparation, A-Plant, Charles Wilson Engineers and Alide Hire.

TowerLight wins Dutch order

TowerLight has confirmed an order for 30 units of its Hydopowercube machines from the Dutch generator and lighting hirer, Bredenoord. The compact product has been developed primarily for the outdoor event and construction markets, and has a vertical telescopic mast reaching a maximum height of 8.5m. The mast is hydraulically raised by a single lever and can be rotated through 340° to ensure the light is targeted correctly. The 200-litre fuel tank gives running times of up to 32 hours. Bredenoord has been established for over 70 years and supplies equipment through subsidiaries across mainland Europe. Technical Director, Harry Keouhorst, said, “The Hydropowercube has many features and benefits, but in particular, customers appreciate the massive reduction in transport costs when we arrive with 20 sets on just one delivery truck.”
