Flexible heating from Wacker Neuson
Wacker Neuson reports that its Pureheat system has proved very popular with customers because of its efficient and cost-effective operation in heating and drying large areas within buildings. The system, which incorporates an innovative Hydronic heating system, works by placing a series of heat exchangers within the space to be dried, and then feeding heat to these units from a self-contained, remote burner, which is positioned outside the building. Heat transfer fluid is constantly circulated between the burner and the exchangers. The manufacturer says this has a considerable economic advantage, resulting from the burner being used to maintain the temperature of the circulating fluid, rather than constantly having to warm cold, ambient air.

Thanks to the flexibility of the equipment, the whole installation can be tailored to the requirements of each particular area. Different heating capacity exchangers can be used, and each one can be individually adjusted to the give the optimum temperature setting. This conveniently lets the operator take into account different room sizes, the moisture content in individual areas, and the possible fragility of the structure within the vicinity. Having the burner located remotely from the building eliminates risk
from noxious fumes, and this also prevents any additional moisture that is generated by direct-fired heaters being trapped within the building. Wacker Neuson says that the structure is, therefore, filled with safe, dry and warm air, with the additional benefit that there is no source of ignition located inside.
The small diameter hoses carrying the heat transfer fluid are easy to
route into the appropriate areas without causing serious obstacles in corridors and rooms, and this again improves the working environment. In addition, the availability of powered hose reels combines ease of use with high efficiency, flexibility and portability to the self-contained Pureheat system.
