PCL Youth Camp 5

SIEM REAP, Cambodia: People for Care and Learning’s fourth annual youth camp was a great success with

staff . For the fi rst time, children from Takam and another rural village where PCL has built several homes and

to improve in English as well as leadership skills, and six of them volunteered as translators at the camp and did an incredible job. They also led in music ministry. With a grant from the Leonard Center (Lee University’s Servant Leadership Department), a service-learning component was incorporated into the camp. Three hundred kids from the surrounding village in Battambang were brought in and taught how to brush their teeth, and learned the importance of hygiene. The campers learned service by participation. The Lee students taught classes, washed the children’s hair and hands, and cut their nails. Every child went home with a toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, and towel. This was a great testimony to

the surrounding community, and taught campers the importance of service to others.

Media Reaches Filipino Youth 4

MANILA, Philippines Filipino youth are bombarded with 10 hours of media messages each day, but how much of that is God-honoring? Chuck Quinley says, “Not much, unless they have access to the “Word for You Today” youth devotional, the 24-hour Edge stream broadcast or the theEdge.ph multimedia site and blog.” These powerful media outlets give youth the Word in a way they can grasp. The Edge has a live ministry, too. Edge Events use extreme sports, BMX bikers, wall climbing, and Christian bands to gather a crowd for a

solid evangelistic presentation. Seventy percent of all decisions for Christ are made by age 15; a full 90 percent by age 25. The Edge Media speaks their language with skill and sensitivity. The Quinleys say thanks for

supporting them so Chuck can serve the Edge as CEO without charge and also help UCB Media International launch and manage new media outlets in Asia.
