Child Experiences Miracle Healing

Charity Graff, of the Gentle Hands clinic in the Philippines, recent told the story of an extraordinary healing. A small boy—Jon-Jon—was brought to the clinic with a toe so badly hurt and so long unattended that it had turned

black and died. Surgery was indicated to remove the toe, but no orthopedic surgical contacts were known and no money was available. Charity and her staff prayed for the child, administered antibiotics, treated the toe with medicine, and continued to pray. The prayer, medication, and care persisted for several weeks while he remained at the clinic. One day as a staff member was changing the bandage, she observed that the end of the toe had fallen off. Still,

however, a small bone protruded from the end, and surgery still appeared inevitable. However, the staff prayed again and continued the medical treatments. A few days later, when the bandages were removed, the toe was completely healed! Skin and fl esh covered the end of the toe, just as if it had been surgically reconstructed. Charity and those who work with her are no strangers to miracles, but all of them realize that the only explanation

for this remarkable turnabout in the condition of Jon-Jon’s toe was a divine intervention. They rejoice to see God’s hand at work at the Gentle Hands Clinic. For those who wish to give in support of Gentle Hands, the project number is 740-0166, and the address is Church of God World Missions, PO Box 8016, Cleveland, TN 37320-8016.

Inn of the Sixth Happiness: A Willing Missionary Gladys Aylward, an English domestic worker who

felt called to missions and went to China at her own expense after being turned down by the China Inland Mission, was immortalized in the 1958 fi lm, The Inn of the Sixth Happiness. The movie, starring Ingrid Bergman, chronicles something of her story, especially her valiant achievement in leading 94 orphans across dangerous mountains to safety in 1938 when the Japanese invaded China. The woman who achieved such effectiveness was

not permitted to continue her work in China after the Communists took over, but moved to Taiwan, where she labored until her death in 1970. She is buried there. She wrote, “I wasn’t God’s fi rst choice for what I’ve

done for China...I don’t know who it was...It must have been a man...a well-educated man. I don’t know what happened. Perhaps he died. Perhaps he wasn’t willing... and God looked down...and saw Gladys Aylward...And God said, ‘Well, she’s willing.’” God still uses men and women who are willing, and who will not say no.
