Henrietta Hurford Jones has joined BBC Worldwide as director of CBeebies Investment.

Pan-European news channel Euronews has boosted its sales team. It has named Rob Baird as international account director, based in London. He was previ- ously head of European interna- tional ad sales for Star TV. The broadcaster has also named Nahim Mehenni as international account manager, based in Paris.


Paris-based satellite operator Eutelsat has appointed David Bair as chief technology officer. Bair joins from Echostar Satellite Services where he was senior vice-president of space pro- grammes and operations. Eutelsat has also named Andrew Wallace (pic- tured) as its chief commercial offi- cer, replacing Olivier Milliès- Lacroix. Wallace, has previously served as marketing director at set-top provider Pace and in vari- ous positions at Cable & Wireless. In his new role, he will head up Eutelsat's overall sales and mar- keting activities.


German pay-TV operator Sky Deutschland has named News Corp president Chase Carey as its chairman. Carey, who is also deputy chairman and chief oper- ating officer of News Corp, replaces Markus Tellenbach, who now becomes deputy chairman of the pay-TV outfit.


BBC Worldwide Channels has hired SyFy programming boss Jon Farrar, as vice-president, programming, EMEA. Farrar will be responsible for the program- ming strategy at the BBC's port- folio of channels including BBC Entertainment, BBC Knowledge, BBC Lifestyle, CBeebies and BBC HD. Meanwhile, BBC Worldwide, the UK public broadcaster’s com- mercial arm, has hired Daniel Heaf in the new role of digital director.


Hellas Sat CEO Christodoulos Protopapas has been elected chairman of the European Satellite Operators Association for the second time. He was previ- ously chairman of ESOA in 200 and 2008.


A&E Television Networks has appointed Dean Possenniskie as managing direc- tor, Europe. Possenniskie, who joins from BBC Worldwide, will be responsible for overseeing and growing AETN’s interests in channels, content distribution and digital media activities within the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He will report to Sean Cohan, senior vice-president, international for AETN, and will take up his role the second half of 2010.


UK broadband provider Talk Talk has hired BBC future media TV platforms head Rahul Chakkara. He will become director of online services and will be responsible for online properties, including talktalk.co.uk, the members forum and sales sites. At the BBC, Chakkara was involved developing iPlayer and Project Canvas, of which Talk Talk is a joint partner.


Irish broadcaster RTE has appointed Mary Curtis as direc- tor of digital switchover. Curtis, who is currently deputy director of programmes at the public broadcaster, will take responsibili- ty of all aspects of DTT in the country ahead of the 2012 digital switchover. She will take over the role in September 2010, reporting to director general Cathal Goan.


National Geographic Global Media has promoted Ted Prince Jr. as chief operating officer. Prince was previously chief operating officer of Nat Geo Ventures, the company’s international produc- tion and distribution division. He will now be responsible for the growth of the company’s docu-


mentary production arm Nat Geo Television, and Nat Geo Channels as well continue to oversee its distribution arm.


French commercial broadcaster M6 has hired Marie Grau- Chevallereau as director of regu- lation. Grau-Chevallereau previ- ously worked for the country's media regulator, the Conseil Superieur de L'Audiovisuel (CSA), as co-ordinator of public broad- casting.


Playout and broadcast equipment provider Omneon has named Carlos Ferreira as southern European manager. Ferriera was previously southern Europe man- ager at Snell.


TV transport technology compa- ny T-VIPS has appointed Lutz Germer to regional sales manag- er, Germany. Germer has held senior sales roles at Barco, Grass Valley/Thomson and Broadcast Television Systems/Philips.


French DTT channels TMC and NT1 are to undergo a major exec- utive shuffle following their acqui- sition by commercial broadcaster TF1. TF1 deputy managing direc- tor, scheduling, Jean Francois Lancelier will become vice-presi- dent for TMC and NT1, sharing the position with TMC managing director Caroline Got. Xavier Gandon will become program- ming director for both channels.


Rémy Pfimlin has been appoint- ed president of public broadcast- er France Télévisions. Pfimlin was previously director-general of newspaper and magazine distri- bution organisation Presstalis.
