A grey and ductile iron foundry has an immediate opening for a Melt Department Superintendent.


A B.S. degree in Industrial Management preferred or related experience with mini- mum of 5 years in the foundry industry. Cupola experience strongly preferred. Responsibilities include:


Direction and coordination of all cupola melt activities of this 2 – 3 shift foundry operations including melt depart- ment maintenance in accordance with company objectives. Scheduling and supervision of melt operations including relines, bottom drops, inductor changes, upgrades as required, etc. The Melt Superintendent will be responsible for maintaining and ordering all materials for the melt department, including charge materials, alloys, and refractories


The Melt Superintendent will report to the Operations Manager.

MODERN CASTING / July 2010 Senior Metallurgical Engineer


Cadillac Casting, Inc., a supplier of ductile iron cast products to the automotive, commercial highway, agricultural, and alternative energy markets, is seeking a Team Player to fill the position of Sr. Metallurgist for its metal casting facility located in Cadillac, Michigan.


We have a need for a top notch Metallurgical Engineer who can bring an added dimension of managerial, manufacturing, and technical experience to our operations. This management level position is responsible for managing a metal laboratory, sand laboratory, and cupola melting department consisting of (3) salaried and (45) hourly personnel. We are seeking an individual with extensive technical background in ductile iron foundry processes and knowledge of overseeing the quality of purchased raw ma- terials and metallurgical inspection systems for our high volume metal casting facility.


Knowledge and experience with cupola melting, material properties and specifications, design of products, familiarity with processes used, raw materials used, and problem solving techniques are required. This position involves the daily application of metallurgical principles, investigation and analysis of foundry procedures, root cause analysis, and other managerial and technical duties in a Team Oriented culture.


Skill sets required include: Microsoft products proficiency preferred. Excellent inter-personal, oral and written communication skills are required.


We are seeking an individual with a minimum of ten years experience in a ductile iron foundry manufacturing environment with a metallurgical and technical background. A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering, chemistry, or material science is preferred. Prior supervisory experience is required. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
