Land Rover, Gaydon, U.K., has contracted Tupy, Joinville, Brazil, to produce compacted graphite iron (CGI) cylinder blocks for its new 4.4-liter V-8 turbodiesel engine. The CGI engine, the fourth for the combined auto group of Jaguar and Land Rover, has achieved improve- ments in horsepower and torque over its 3.6-liter CGI predecessor. It is produced with the help of technology
