METALCASTING SUPPLIES
Vegetable-Based Coolants Rustlick PowerCool Green and Green CF coolants are new
water soluble products made from vegetable-based oils. The coolants are developed for heady-duty cutting and grinding
part deformation, elimination of machining distortion and improved mechanical properties. Visit

Die Surface Treatment
Dynamic Surface Technologies has announced its Dyna-Max process for improving diecasting tool life. In the process, a hard chromium carbonitride layor is diffused into steel at low temperature. Dyna-Max yielded 59,425 shots in a case study, compared to 18,000 shots with the physical vapor deposition of chromium nitride. The process alleviates flaking, peeling and delamination. Visit

Cut Resistant Gloves Magid Glove and Safety has designed a new cut resis-
operations. The plant-based coolants are designed for fluid performance, increased pump life and decreased overall fluid use. PowerCool Green, containing chlorinated extreme pressure additives, is safe for all metals. PowerCool Green CF is non-chlorinated and recommended for use on titanium. Visit

Rotary Degasser Pyrotek Metaullics’ Star
mobile degassing unit is a spinning-rotor degassing/ fluxing system in which a metered amount of inert gas or flux is injected into molten aluminum through a rotating graphite shaft and rotor. The rotor shears the inert gas into tiny bubbles and disperses them evenly throughout the melt. Hydrogen gas is attracted to the inert gas bubbles and rises to the surface. The flux injec- tion allows a steady flow
of flux below the metal line to promote oxide entrapment. Visit

Uphill Quenching The Cryogenic Institute of New England Inc. now offers
the Nitrofreeze Uphill Quenching Service to maximize stress relief in cast, heat treated and forged aluminum parts. The procedure involves the use of a controlled cryogenic chamber where the parts are cooled to low temperatures using liquid nitrogen or helium. After cooling, the components go through a controlled warming cycle. The technique produces reduced

tant glove specifically for the metalcasting industry. Magid CutMaster gloves are manufactured using 100% Kevlar fiber, which is five times stronger than steel and provides long- lasting durability. The gloves protect hands from cuts and abrasions and feature a padded inside lining for thermal protection and cushioned support. The gloves are available in sizes 6-9 and 14. Visit
