FERRARI WORLD ABU DHABI

Ahead of its official opening on October 28, the developers of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi have confirmed the full list of rides and attractions at this, the world’s largest indoor theme park. Designed to convey the passion, excellence, performance and technical innovation of the famous Italian marque, Ferrari World will boast more than 20 attractions beneath a giant 200,000 square metre roof in the shape of the Ferrari logo. “The opening of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi will revolutionise the way visitors and people in the region spend their leisure time,” believes Mohammad Al Mubarak, chairman of operator Farah Leisure Parks Management.

Abu Dhabi was chosen due the popularity of motorsport in the United Arab Emirates. The park’s location at Yas Island is close to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix circuit.

Rocket wows Düsseldorf

The latest extreme attraction from the Austrian ride manufacturer Funtime Handels was unveiled last month in Düsseldorf. Presented by showman Michael Goetzke, the Rocket was one of the headline attractions at the German city’s annual summer funfair on the banks of the River Rhine. The Goetzke family already travels two Funtime Star Flyers, and Rocket adopts a very similar format. Instead of seats suspended by chains, the 55-metre- high ride boasts five six-seater planes that rotate around their own axis according to the ride operator’s wishes. This gives the ride more of a thrill factor than the Star Flyer, which despite its height is

of Italian park As it concentrates its efforts on the new Luna Park at Coney Island in New York, Zamperla has severed its formal links with the Minitalia Leolandia park near Milan, Italy (pictured below).

Alberto Zamperla, head of the ride manufacturer Antonio Zamperla SpA, took a minority stake in the park, about 90 minutes from his company’s headquarters in Vincenza, back in May 2007. A number of improvements followed, including the addition of 19 new Zamperla rides, and for a while the company used the park as an unofficial showroom.

Several such rides have since been repeated for
