Middlesex University Business School
Middlesex University Business School is one of the largest in the UK, with a vibrant academic and research culture. We aim to be a leader in delivering challenging business and management programmes. We benefit from significant external research funding and the number and diversity of students choosing us for their research supervision.
We have extensive links with business and industry, the voluntary and charitable sectors as well as with government and public administration. Substantial research funding from industry points to our close relationship with the users of our research. The School has established a network of business and professional contacts and pursues a policy of forging links with higher education in the European Community, and providing study and research opportunities for students around the world.

Academic research is organised by department. Human Resource Management
The Human Resource Management Department has research expertise in the management of age, gender and diversity issues, global

labour matters and human resource development.
Business and Management
The Business and Management Department’s research strengths lie in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs); regional regeneration; governance and local economic development; entrepreneurship; business ethics; corporate social responsibility; cross-cultural management; supply chain management; strategy and discrete-event simulation.
Marketing and Enterprise
The Marketing and Enterprise Department focuses on services and business-to- business marketing, relationship marketing, service quality in financial services and healthcare, SMEs and marketing effectiveness and new product development.
Accounting and Finance
Research expertise in the Accounting and Finance Department comprises corporate international risk evaluation; corporate management; corporate hedging; credit risk; innovation and finance and labour issues in accounting, including gender and ethnicity.
Economics and Statistics
The Economics and Statistics Department research expertise includes many aspects of econometrics and applied statistics.
Law
The Law Department focuses on human rights law, corporate governance and land law.
The Centre for Enterprise and Economic Development Research
The Centre specialises in research relating to SMEs and regional economic development, focusing on research with an applied policy emphasis.
Research skills training
Our taught MSc Research Methods for Business and Management acts as a research skills training programme for all full-time MPhil and PhD students. This covers researchmethodologies and techniques for collecting, analysing and presenting data.
Doctoral students are required to give workshops at regular intervals. These are attended by students and staff and provide a fertile learning opportunity. We provide grants to attend academic conferences for the purpose of presenting papers.
