ROBBERIES COLUMBIA RD., 1800 block, 6:30 p.m. June 21. A man and his son reported that the youth had been assaulted by two boys while on his way home from a park. They took his cellphone and punched him in the stomach.


CONNECTICUT AVE., 2900 block, 10:07 p.m. to 10:11 p.m. June 17. A pedestrian was held in a chokehold by a male youth while another youth took his property. FLORIDA AVE., 1100 block, 2:50 p.m. June 17. A gunman entered a restaurant, stole cash from the register and struck an employee in the head with the gun before fleeing. KENNEDY ST., 900 block, 5:50 p.m. p.m. June 19. Two boys stole a purse from a woman waiting for a bus. LANIER PL., 1700 block, 2 a.m. June 20. Two male youths, one with a handgun, stole a purse and other property from two pedestrians. They ran off and then fled in a green car. MST., 1-99 block, 12:35 a.m. June 20. A male and female were assaulted as they got out of a vehicle. Her purse was taken, and he got into a fight with several of the assailants. One of the assailants was arrested a short time later. MOUNT PLEASANT ST., 3100 block, 6:20 p.m. June 22. A man entered a bank and asked an employee for information about a loan. As she started to gather paperwork, he produced a gun and demanded money from a safe. He fled with several metal boxes containing cash. MYRTLE ST., 1600 block, 9:35 p.m. June 17. A female walking home was approached by two men in an alley, who grabbed her and forced her to the ground. They took her purse and fled. OST., 1-99 block, 1:16 a.m. June 22. A taxi driver took a man from Union Station to his destination, but then the man produced a handgun, demanded cash and fled with the money. ONEIDA PL., 700 block, 5 p.m. June 18. Three boys assaulted a male pedestrian and stole his cellphone. PST., 1000 block, 5:25 p.m. June 22. A gunman stole a cellphone and cash from two construction workers and fled on a bicycle. PARK RD., 1600 block, 11:10 p.m. to 11:15 p.m. June 18. One of three pedestrians was assaulted and stabbed by a male teen who demanded money. The other two retrieved a baseball bat from their car to try to ward off the assailant. All three were treated for stab wounds at a hospital. A 17-year-old youth was arrested a few hours later. He, too, was treated at the hospital. PORTER ST., 2800 block, 5:40 a.m. June 20. A runner was accosted by two males, who took his cash and fled in a red minivan. QST., 1900 block, 9 a.m. June 19. A male snatched a female’s purse and fled, chased by several bystanders. A suspect was stopped by police and


arrested. The purse was recovered. RESERVOIR RD., 3700 block, 3 a.m. June 20. Two males accosted a pedestrian, took property from his pockets and fled. VERMONT AVE., 1700 block, 10:15 a.m. June 20. A man with a knife took car keys from a female, used the keys to take property from her car and then fled. WISCONSIN AVE., 5000 block, 10:10 a.m. June 20. Two men threatened a restaurant employee with a gun, stole cash from the business and fled. FOURTH ST. AND MASSACHUSETTS AVE., 6:20 p.m. June 18. Two teenage boys approached a female pedestrian from behind while she was waiting to cross the street, snatched property and fled. FIFTH AND H STREETS., 10:27 p.m. June 21. A male teen ran by a male pedestrian and snatched his cellphone from his hand. FIFTH ST., 3900 block, 2:35 p.m. June 21. A deliveryman was approached by two men, who threatened to stab him if he did not give them cash. During a struggle, cash was taken from the deliveryman’s pocket. He ran off but returned to try to get his money back. Another struggle ensued, and the deliveryman was stabbed in the arm. He grabbed the knife and escaped in his vehicle, stopping a short distance away to call police. He was taken by ambulance to a hospital. 10TH ST., 1800 block, 1:20 a.m. June 22. A man asked a male pedestrian for cash, the two struggled, and the assailant tried to use a stun gun on the pedestrian but fled as soon as he got the cash. 11TH AND V STREETS, 1:10 a.m. June 17. Three men with a gun demanded money from a trio of female pedestrians, took their purses and struck one of them in the head with the gun. The men fled in a black car. 12TH ST. AND RHODE ISLAND AVE., 11:22 p.m. June 18. A man who acted as if he had a gun threatened a male pedestrian and took his cash.


14TH AND U STREETS, 4:50 p.m. June 20. A teenage boy asked to borrow a skateboard from a group of youths, but they refused. He then grabbed one and fled. 14TH ST., 3500 block, 1 a.m. to 1:15 June 17. A male sitting on steps was punched and kicked by three young men, who also stole property from him. He was taken by ambulance to a hospital. 14TH ST., 6100 block, 9:05 p.m. June 17. A female pedestrian was assaulted by two men, who then stole her purse and ran off. 16TH ST. AND FLORIDA AVE., 4:30 a.m. June 20. A male pedestrian was beaten and robbed by two men. He was taken to a hospital. 18TH AND NEWTON STREETS, 1:55 a.m. June 19. A young man pushed a female to the ground and stole her purse. 18TH ST., 2400 block, 2 a.m. June


20. Two young men asked for a cigarette from a male and then took property from him. 19TH ST. AND KALORAMA RD., 3:25 a.m. to 3:30 a.m. June 19. A group of about five people got out of a car and assaulted a male, took property from his pockets and drove off. THEFTS/BREAK-INS BANKS ALLY, 1200 block, 1:45 p.m. June 18. When a man returned home, he discovered a sliding glass door open and a male and female inside. They took his iPod and other property. BELMONT ST., 1300 block, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. June 21. Property was stolen from a residence entered by forcing open a rear porch door. BRYANT ST., 100 block, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. June 22. Property was reported stolen from a residence. CHESTNUT ST., 7100 block, 9:50 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. June 20. Property was stolen from a residence entered by prying open a front door. CUMBERLAND ST., 3500 block, 11:10 a.m. May 29. Someone called police after noticing that the front door and window were open at a neighbor’s residence when the neighbor had been gone for at least a week. DECATUR ST, 1500 block, 5 p.m. June 16 to 9:30 a.m. June 17. Property was stolen from a residence entered through an unlocked window. FORT DR., 3800 block, 11 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. June 22. Several laptop computers were stolen from a school entered by breaking a kitchen window. FRENCH ST., 900 block, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 18. Property was stolen from a residence entered by forcing open a rear door. LAUREL ST., 6800 block, 12 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. June 20. Property was stolen from a residence entered by kicking in a rear door. HOMICIDES YUMA ST., 800 block, 10:20 p.m. June 18. Cornell K. Yates, 36, of Maryland was found lying on a sidewalk with gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Two other people wounded at the scene were taken to hospitals. ROBBERIES ALABAMA AVE., 1300 block, 10:35 a.m. Jan. 22. A male youth approached a female pedestrian and asked for the time. The female continued walking, and the youth grabbed her by the neck and snatched her cellphone from her hand. ALABAMA AVE., 1300 block, 10:20 p.m. June 19. A male was approached on the sidewalk by a male youth with a weapon. The youth ordered the male to empty his pockets and struck him in the face with the weapon. The youth fled with the property. ALABAMA AVE., 1300 block, 8:29 a.m. June 22. A female was approached by a male youth, who asked her for the time. The female told him and walked away. He approached her from behind and attempted to grab her wallet, which was tucked under her right arm. He then fled on foot. Nothing was reported taken. ALABAMA AVE., 4100 block, 10 a.m. June 17. A male snatched a property from a female at a service station. BENNING RD., 4500 block, 2:30 to 2:50 p.m. June 21. A male standing in line at a fast-food restaurant was approached by a male youth, who demanded that he empty his pockets. The robber struck the male on the head with a weapon, cutting his eyebrow. The youth fled without property. The male ran home, called police and was taken to a hospital. HALF AND K STREETS, 10:20 p.m. June 19. A male pedestrian was approached from behind by two boys. One hit the pedestrian on the head with a brick, knocking him to the ground. The other boy grabbed the pedestrian’s canvas bag. Both robbers fled on foot. JASPER RD., 2800 block, 12:50 to 1 a.m. June 19. Two people robbed a male pedestrian at gunpoint. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. AVE., 2500 block, 8:15 to 8:18 a.m. June 17. A male pedestrian was approached from behind by three male youths. One put him in a chokehold while the others searched his pockets and took property. The pedestrian attempted to flee but fell. The youths punched


and kicked him before leaving. MELLON ST., 400 block, 3:05 to 3:10 a.m. June 19. A male approached a motorist getting out of a vehicle. The male struck the motorist in the face with a handgun and took his vehicle keys and cellphone. The robber demanded money, then fled when the motorist said he didn’t have any. SOUTH CAROLINA AVE., 1100 block, 11:30 to 11:33 p.m. June 18. A man snatched a purse from a female pedestrian. A witness chased the robber. XENIA ST., 100 block, midnight June 21. Two males with guns demanded that a male to get out of a vehicle and that he give up money and a cellphone. The robbers then fled. THIRD ST., 4300 block, 4:20 to 4:22 a.m. June 19. A male demanded money from a male pedestrian at knifepoint. The pedestrian refused. The robber stabbed the pedestrian in the back, shoulder and scalp and fled. FOURTH ST., 3400 block, 3:20 p.m. June 17. Three male youths approached a male in the hallway of a high school. The three searched his pockets, and one pushed him against a wall. The youths walked away after seeing security personnel approach. Two 15-year-olds and a 16-year-old were arrested. 10TH ST. AND ALABAMA AVE., 9:40 a.m. June 18. A male snatched a cellphone from a female acquaintance while she was using it. A male was arrested. 18TH ST., 1600 block, 7:10 to 7:12 p.m. June 18. Two people approached a male, and one threatened to beat him if he didn’t give them money, then punched the male’s head. The robbers fled with cash. The injured male was taken to a hospital. 22ND ST., 3400 block, noon to 12:10 p.m. June 17. Two female youths approached a female in a parking area and asked her what her shoe size was. One youth then took her shoes while the other made a threatening gesture. 46TH ST., 1-99 block, 9:50 p.m. June 22. A male youth with a gun robbed a male pedestrian. THEFTS/BREAK-INS ANACOSTIA RD., 1100 block, 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. June 17. A residence was entered by removing an air conditioner from a living room window, and property was taken. ATLANTIC ST., 600 block, 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 21. A residence was entered by smashing a dining room window, and property was taken. BENNING RD., 4500 block, 5:30 to 5:50 p.m. June 17. A female walking into her home was approached by a male, who put a towel over her head, pushed her against a wall and choked her. He put a gun to her head and asked her where guns were located in the residence. He then pointed the gun at another person in the residence, searched
