New tester ensures safety of electrical equipment
A
new safety tester from Seaward is designed to ensure that electrical equipment and other electrical appliances used in education premises do not pose a danger to users. To avoid potential safety problems most schools, colleges and universities recognise the importance of preventative maintenance programmes with the focus on portable appliance testing (PAT).
To help them do so the new hand held PrimeTest 250 is the first electrical tester in its class to provide all the electrical tests required for compliance with the IEE Code of Practice for the In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment – and includes a host of other features.
These additional test capabilities include an RCD trip time test, a 3-phase leakage test and a 250V DC insulation test suitable for testing sensitive electrical appliances and surge protected leads.
All electrical safety tests are carried out against pre-set limits and a large display area gives a clear pass or fail indication, as well as digital test result values for those that require them.

New Turkey School Meal Award
T
he prestigious British Turkey Awards has announced a brand new category for its 14th annual awards this year - Best School Meal – to encourage more turkey on the school menu.
School cooks will be asked to create their own original dish using any kind of British turkey catering cut carrying the Quality British Turkey and Red Tractor logo – whether portions such as turkey steaks, mince, fillets or whole joints. The turkey dishes must then be served to the pupils in the ultimate taste test.
The entries will be shortlisted to three and then visited by a panel of judges who will make the final decision. The criteria include suitability for target end user, showcase turkey as the “hero” of the dish, and good balance of ingredients.
Finalists will be invited to a glittering awards ceremony at Claridge’s on 23rd September, where the winner will be announced.
The idea behind this new award is to get schools thinking outside the box about how to include nutritious, delicious turkey dishes, without resorting to the usual roast dinner.
