SeaWeenies going down swimmingly T

eachers and children alike can look forward to the summer with an innovative range of interactive educational toys that develop problem solving, counting and subtraction skills.

Developed in conjunction with an experienced early years’ teacher, the award- winning SeaWeenies range of sand and water toys can be used inside or outside the classroom help teachers blend ‘hands on’ interaction with fun learning. SeaWeenies, from Nottingham-based Monarch Education Furniture, is suitable for children aged between three and eight years and each unit allows up to seven children to learn and play at any one time. The SeaWeenies Palm Tree Balancing Toy teaches children about problem solving, capacity and filling, while Stella the Starfish can be used to demonstrate weight.

Toby the Tippy Turtle helps children to develop fine motor skills and learn about balance, speed and time, and his friend Ollie the Wobbly Octopus teaches direction, capacity, balance, emptying and filling.

The Family Finn Fishing Set helps children to improve hand-eye co-ordination and to learn about counting and subtraction. Andy Harrhy, managing director of Monarch Education Furniture, said: “We created the SeaWeenies range as we wanted to offer teachers a product that could be used for classroom play and incorporated as a teaching aid.

“Since then, we have gone on to sell more than 1,000 SeaWeenies and last year we won a national award at the Practical Pre-School Awards.”

SeaWeenies’ height adjustable frame makes the product suitable for a wide range of ages and its features include an inset lid which can be used as a table when not in use.

The tables are shaped so that two SeaWeenies can sit side by side, enabling teachers to make one larger unit so that more children can get involved. SeaWeenies is made from durable and robust injection-moulded ABS plastic and its large size and curved edges mean the product is safe for young children.
