What is your preferred method? Spray Painting.

When did others start to notice your work? Early on. I was good at characters, so that was a quick way to get recognition. I struggled with letters, and so many cats were already dominant letterists. Writing is all about how to stand out from the crowd with style.

Who inspired you when you were starting out? Crayone TWS inspired me to believe that I could paint anything with spray paint. He and Risque TWS taught me how to outline my pieces very cleanly. Raevyn TWS taught me to explore anything and everything and to make them into letters. He taught me to have fun inventing new styles of lettering. Other than there was no one to teach us back then. I learned a ton from Barron Storey on visual communicating, techniques, and being creative. Going to the YMCA as a teen taught me to envision a better world and how to work to make that happen.

How has your style changed over the years? It grew up a bit alongside my personal growth. As a kid it was comic book violence and objectification of women. Now it’s about community transformation, and strong women warriors. In my lettering I have a better understanding of flow, color coordinating, mood.

When did you start to transfer your energy to graphic design and Murals?

I always thought of my pieces as murals, but with letters and a youthful, street aesthetic. I often call my pieces murals. The highest art in writing is the production, which consists of pieces, characters, background and concept. I try to take my pieces as far as possible within the time available.

What do you think of how the graffiti movement has been embraced by the larger culture and by the art mainstream? We win! As for the art world, they will only pick one or two darlings to embrace at a time. Most of the pioneers of this movement have been passed by the history books, and will live on through the words of those who got their fame.
