Jeni’s creative savvy stems from a growing up in a family of artists. She was attending art school when she decided to make the business of ice cream her creative endeavor instead. And it’s all a hands-on process. Every yummy bite is not only made from carefully chosen ingredients but then packaged by hand in containers with all the labels completely hand written. When asked with amazement how that labeling could be efficient, she responded “We have so many flavors that are changing all the time, that it’s actually much easier to just do it all ourselves!”

There are also other things that Jeni’s works to do for themselves. They’ve been known to do some political dancing over the local/national dairy policies as they strive to have top quality cream. Going from a herd to a small dairy processor is still a hard game in the United States. Jeni’s has worked hard to sort out the details within their region and now proudly buy 100% of the cream that their local Snowville Creamery can produce. Happily, the Creamery shares land with a small, family-owned dairy farm where the cows graze on a wide variety of grasses. Grass-fed cows give the highest quality of milk, full of natural Omega-3 fatty acids. Jeni laughed a little when I asked about healthy ice cream - yes, while they think about the nutrition, they can’t very

well dwell on just that, being ice cream and all. She did point out that for them it was all a very natural arrangement as the richer, higher quality cream also had the most flavor. Thanks to Snowville Creamery and the family farm, Jeni gets her top notch cream within 48 hours of the cows being milked.
