Artizen did some quick checking and these adorable shoes are indeed lovingly handmade by a great couple in Uruguay, after learning the basics from a Brazilian gal in a beautiful area they highly recommend visiting. (Click to see Iago Atitlan). I was assured that the yarns used in the shoes are completely colorfast, so rain isn’t a problem. Mud might be iffy - you’ll need to wash by hand.
