Vertikal lift-off

We preview some of the innovative products that will be displayed at the Vertikal Days specialist lifting equipment event, taking place at Haydock Park on 16 and 17 June.

Power Towers’ compact footprint

Launched at this year’s Executive Hire Show, the Power Tower Nano Sp is suitable for contractors working at heights of up to 4.5m where regular repositioning is needed, or where the

application calls for being able to drive when elevated, such as electrical installation and cleaning tasks. It provides a maximum 1.5m x 700mm platform with the integral 500mm cantilever extended, and has a compact 1.25m x 750mm footprint. Weighing only 478kg, the Sp can work on medium-duty Kingspan raised access flooring and is rated for indoor and outdoor use. A new variant of the machine is scheduled for imminent launch. Power Towers, whose products are distributed to the UK hire industry through Red Band U.K., has recently added several export dealers, including Gardemann for the German hire market, CTE SpA for Italy and France, K B Platforms covering the Netherlands, and Rapid Access for the Middle East.

Learn with Higher Concept

Higher Concept Software says that its Syrinx hire management system has proved a popular choice in the powered access and crane market, having been adopted by companies such as Lifterz, Horizon Platforms, Powered Access Services and NMT Crane Hire. As in previous years, customers will be able to attend complementary training sessions, to learn more about the CRM and workshop/servicing modules for the software. In addition, technology seminars are being organised, with topics to include electronic document scanning, telephone integration and web- based

customer access. A separate seminar will preview features in the new Syrinx program update. To secure a place, contact Higher Concept on 0118 947 6669 or email

Latest Youngman additions

The Boss X-Series of push-around compact scissor lift platforms will be highlighted on the Youngman Group stand. Models now incorporate auto-braking as standard and the latest X3X machine, which has a 3-scissor pack, offers a maximum working height of 5.2 m without the need for stabiliser legs. The recently introduced Boss Cam-Lock Advance

Guardrail system will be shown, which replaces traditional horizontal and diagonal bracing on the company's Clima and Ladderspan aluminium access towers using 1.5m high side frames. Also on display will be mobile and static versions from the environmentally friendly Ecolite lighting tower range. Incorporating ceramic discharge lamps, they are designed to produce a high quality, glare-free light and can reduce running costs by as much as 80%.

Get automated with MCS

MCS says that the new advanced Operated Plant functionality within its MCS-rm software can help hirers of equipment such as truck-mounted platforms better consolidate, manage and automate their operations. It lets them include ‘dry’ and operated plant hire in the same contract, as well as accommodating complex operator timekeeping and utilisation considerations.

The Scheduled Maintenance function can

streamline the servicing and repair of lifting and powered access equipment, and the software can generate a job sheet or work order at the touch of a button should a machine break down while in use, so that efficient on-site repair can be effected.
