Debates and discussions

Members of the Access Industry Forum (AIF), which represents nine principal associations and federations involved in working at height, staged a series of panel discussions and presentations in an auditorium within the main hall. PASMA hosted a series of debates comparing the merits of the two methods currently approved by the Association and the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) for assembling, dismantling and altering mobile access towers: 3T (through the trap) and the advanced guardrail. The lively debates were presented by students of law and politics from the University of Glasgow. PASMA also promoted its training products and services, including the new module covering low-level access equipment such as podium steps and folding room scaffolds, supported by a DVD called ‘Accidents can happen even at low level’.

Chemstore displayed a selection of bunded units for storing hazardous materials on a site. Models available include ‘walk-in’ stores that can accommodate non-palletised loads and smaller containers, and which can be used as a bunded workroom for decanting or weighing operations. The manufacturer also offers fully galvanised bunded stores for harsh and aggressive locations, with sump trays made from 3mm sheet steel, and available in sizes from 2-32m2
