Step 3: This is the picture that I used to do all the design work on; I also took a separate one of the tow body. In this picture you can see the bonnet is still in primer, before I left I laid up the graphic that was to go on the bon- net so it could be sprayed silver and orange as you can see in pic 2.

Step 4: Here you can see that I’ve laid the stencil onto the truck, the stencil is a product called Mac mask, it comes white and is solvent resistant. Once the stencil is applied I have to back mask around it to stop any overspray getting over the rest of the truck. The reason that I did the logos first and not the graphics is that if the graphics were done first there would be a line running though the logo. The only other way to prevent this would have been to do the graphics and then clear the whole truck and then color sand it smooth, but because of the size of the truck this wasn’t an option.

Step 5: Once everything was masked up I mixed up a mid tone blue using blue and white basecoat and spray the logos, because the blue had a lot of white in it, it covered in two passes. Once it had flashed off it was time to come in with a .5mm airbrush. As there is yellow on the logo I firstly run around the areas with white, if you didn’t do this the yellow would not cover and would also turn green. As you can see in the pic there is a lot of masking and back mask- ing to prevent overspray going where it is not wanted. This was a very slow process as there was one logo either side of the sleeper and also one on the top of the bonnet. So the whole process was to mask, spray, back mask the area and spray more color.
