MUST-HAVE BOOKS
SABRINA’S LIBRARY:
Sneaky Veggies and Vegetables Every Day
It was the subtitle that attracted me first, “How to Get Vegetables Under the Radar & Into Your Family.” With a promise like that, I couldn’t resist picking up Sneaky Veggies. And I wasn’t disappointed. Just as New Year’s Day is the annual kick-off for getting
rid of bad habits, I always view summer as the annual opportunity to try new vegetables from farmer’s markets, which sprout up along rural roads and in city squares. But how can you try a new vegetable—and get your family to eat it—if you don’t know what to do with it? Sneaky Veggies is full of family-friendly recipes that are both delicious and easy. This cookbook proves you do not have to have a culinary degree to turn vegetables into tasty snacks, sauces, soups, side dishes, main courses and even, desserts. What child (or adult for that matter) could resist dishes with names such as Party on a Plate: Confetti Couscous, or Too-Fun-Not-to-Try Vegetable “Noodles” with Parmesan Cheese, or Edible Art: Purple Cauliflower Dip? Now if Sneaky Veggies has whetted your appetite for
exploring the edible plant kingdom, you might also want to take a look at Vegetables Every Day. From artichokes to zucchini, this cookbook provides an encyclopedic look at more than 66 commonly available vegetables. You’ll learn when the vegetables are available, how to select and store them, basic preparation, cooking tips and a bounty of recipes ranging from simple to gourmet. Bon appétit!
