RYA Basic Navigation and Safety

This beginners’ course provides an introduction to navigation techniques and safety and is ideal for those not sailing too far from home.

The syllabus covers a variety of topics to a basic level and provides an introduction to the basic skills required for taking a small boat to sea.

Topics include chartwork; the compass; safety; tidal awareness; pilotage; collision regulations; interpretation and sources of weather forecasts; anchoring buoyage; and electronic navigation.

The course is aimed at those students who would not normally do the longer shore based courses.

Having successfully completed my practical day skipper, I just wanted to say thanks for your help with the Day Skipper Shore based course. I found the course concise and easy to follow and thanks again.
