addressing productivity and fouling issues inherent in traditional RO membranes,” says Jeff Green, CEO of NanoH2
O. “These funds will go a long way towards
validating our novel technology and complementing our research as we demonstrate the advantages of our membranes for shipboard systems.”
NanoH2O is a global provider of reverse osmosis
(RO) membranes that leverage nanotechnology to alter the fundamental economics of desalination. With freshwater scarcity an alarming worldwide issue, nanocomposite membranes represent a major performance advancement for desalination, incre- asing both energy efficiency and productivity. By combining breakthrough nanomaterials with proven polymer technology, NanoH2
the highest permeability (flux) on the market while maintaining industry-standard rejection of salt and other contaminants.

anocomp Technologies, Inc., a developer of performance materials and component pro-
ducts from carbon nanotubes (CNTs), announced that the company’s steady progress in commerciali- zing nanotube materials was presented as a suc- cess case in the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology’s (PCAST) “Report to the President and Congress on the Third Assessment of the National Nanotechnology Initiative (NNI).” The report delivered recommendations from leading aca- demics and industry executives for maintaining the United States’ leadership position in nanotechnology research and commercialization. The report specifi-
cally discussed Nanocomp’s light weight CNT wiring and body armor as a technology that has “matured
beyond early stages of development and represents

“This is a proud day for Nanocomp, and for the wi- der promise that nanotube technology brings to glo- bal defense and industry,” said Peter Antoinette, pre- sident and CEO of Nanocomp Technologies. “From day one, our vision has been not only to provide a novel material technology that outperforms existing alternatives, but also to lay down a meaningful path to commercial delivery. As we turn our attention to scaling-up production, this recognition from the leaders of our nation is an incredible milestone.” Nanocomp is the country’s only manufacturer of industry-ready pure carbon nanotube products. The company last year announced its capability to deliver 4-foot by 8-foot CNT mats, the only such products of their kind in the world.

anoFocus (N2F) has met its own expectations in fiscal year 2009 with net sales of EUR5024
million and an EBDITA of EUR-104,000. The decline in sales of 23% was rather usual for the branch. The main reason for the decline were the noticeably red- uced investment budgets of key customers as a result of the economic crisis.
The equity ratio could be improved once more due to a capital increase against cash contribution in FY 2009. It ended up with 70.1% at the end of 2009 compared to the previous year with 68.1%. The takeover of SISCAN division sold by SIEMENS
