In each issue, The Social Entrepreneur’ page aims to be engaging, informative and a useful resource for business people who are passionate about changing lives, building communities and nurturing the environment. Through this magazine and a series of special events, my mission is to bring together the vast range of individuals and organisations across manchester interested in the social enterprise movement in a space where they can learn about and inspire one another.

DEVELOP ENTERPRISE SKILLS AND

A GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE

Participants should register at www.yourbigyear.com or www.unleashingideas.org before taking part in phase one of the challenge. Phase One asks for a business/fundraising plan to be submitted at www.yourbigyear.com.

Participants will progress to phase two of the challenge by submitting the most innovative plan or by being one of the top fundraisers for our chosen charities.

Phase Two of our challenge will be themed around leadership and enterprise and will focus on teamwork and partnerships. It will take one hundred participants through a series of tasks that will reduce competitors down to a winning pair.

The ‘Your Big Year’ competition will open for registrations on April 15th 2010. Business/Fundraising Plan submissions will open on July 1st 2010. Fundraising will be accrued through individual accounts at www.yourbigyear.com and measured until the first phase comes to a close by November 1st 2010.

The tasks and challenges of phase two will take place between 15th and 21st November 2010, Global Entrepreneurship Week, culminating in an exclusive event held in the UK.

Social Entrepreneur and CEO of Smaller Earth, Chris Arnold, (above), invites you to earn a prize that money can’t buy!

‘Your Big Year’ is a competition designed to develop enterprise and leadership skills. It will provide global and self-awareness and inspire participants to action through fulfilling challenges and a truly motivational and life changing prize.

The prize is one amazing year exploring countries and continents, meeting leaders and being immersed in a variety of cultures. The competition and prize provides a series of peak experiences and the opportunity for personal growth and a hugely widened perspective.

Chris explains “I intend the competition to help place the North West at the centre of Global Entrepreneurship Week in November 2010.”

We can’t wait and have already started on our charity fundraising ideas!
