The concept is simple: a business lunch for two professionals. But the twist, the interesting part, is that it’s blind. The technical term that we have coined for this social experiment is micro networking.
So, two willing volunteers who are confident enough to take a risk on the chance of business benefit step alone into Bem Brasil and wait to see who will join them for their lunch break...
This month we have Suki, who runs her own PR agency and represents Enterprise UK and Becky who is the Editor of our sister publication: Porter Magazine. The chosen ‘2 Do Lunch’ venue: Bem Brasil, Deansgate, Manchester. Let’s see how they got on…
THE LUNCH
What was the atmosphere like?
Although it’s a big restaurant it felt warm and inviting.
How was the service?
Service was very good and the staff were very pleasant and attentive.
LUNCH PARTNER
First impressions:
Gorgeous smile and a lovely person.
How was the conversation? Free flowing or any awkward silences?
Free flowing from the start as we had a lot in common from fashion to travelling. We could have talked for a good few hours.
What did you talk about?
We talked about each others careers. I had travelled all over
18 - WORK
Europe as a tour publicist when I worked at Sony Music in London. I organised publicity for musical legends such as Aerosmith, Bob Dylan, Michael Bolton and many others. Becky immediately connected with my love of LA as I had spent time working in Hollywood and New York. She had done a “Thelma and Louise” type road trip with a friend down to LA and fell in love with Santa Monica, like myself.
Did you have much in common?
We had a great deal in common as I currently run my own PR company and specialise in film, fashion and music. I also represent a plus size fashion model called Jen Hunter and as Becky is also a model we connected. We both love LA and I was encouraging her to take the plunge one day and work there for a bit. I am also interested in the behind the
scenes work that goes on as the editor of a fabulous magazine such as Porter. She wears lots of hats just like me!
Do you think there is a chance you will work together in the future?
Yes definitely we are already planning a feature idea about a website for women to find out about their own style called “Style File” and I think we will always be in touch because of the nature of our businesses. I really liked her so yes I will keep a track of what she does

BEST THING ABOUT MANCHESTER
My friends
BUSINESS
OR PLEASURE
Mix both wisely and you can’t go wrong
next. I think she will go far in fashion so watch this space everyone!
What was your lasting impression?
Becky is a great role model for many young women. She has the dedication, motivation and charisma to be inspirational for girls who want to achieve something. I am enrolling her as an Ambassador for Enterprise UK (which is one of the other hats I wear).
Would you recommend 2 do lunch?
Of course it’s a fantastic way to network with likeminded people. I have to give ten out of ten to the organiser who put us together!
