Judith (née O’Brien) Laurençot passed away at home on March 26,2010 after a multi-year fight with Parkinson’s disease. Judy was born in New Rochelle, New York in 1932 and raised in Chevy Chase, Maryland. She was an alumna of George- town Visitation Convent High School. She also attended Catholic University and graduated from Trinity College, Washing- ton, DC. After college, she worked as a reporter for The Washington Post. In 1955, Judy married René Laurençot and they moved to California and settled in La Cañada in 1964. She was a volunteer teacher and librarian at St. Bede The Venerable School and later became a volunteer librarian at the La Cañada Flintridge Library. She was also a Cub Scout Den Mother. Judy was known for her love of literature and music, as well as her great wit and kindness. She is survived by her husband, four daughters, Nadine, Michelle, Colette and Denise, two sons, André and René, Jr.; and three grandchil- dren, Hana, Delavan and René. After joining the U.S. Navy, Robert commanded the following ships: the USS Navajo, USS Salinan, USS Vance, and the USS Steinaker. He retired from the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Washington, D.C. in 1982. In retirement, he served in the rank of Grandpa to his three grandchildren, where he brought them joy and laughter on a daily basis. Beloved husband of Carolyn L. Tom Wilson was born in Mansfield, Ohio and served honorably during WWII in the Pacific as a flight engineer in the Army Air Corps. After leaving the service he worked as an aeronautical engineer for the Office of Naval Research in Washington,DC. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Lillian G. Wilson. He is survived by a sister, Anne Dietzel of Baton Rouge, LA; two daughters, Barbara Daire Woodward of Brookeville, MD and Susan B. Wilson of Alexandria, VA; and two grandchildren, Christa L. and Justin D. LeGrande, of Brookeville, MD. A memorial service honoring Tom will be held at Unity of Fairfax on Saturday, May 15, 2010, 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom’s name to Unity of Fairfax, 2854 Hunter Mill Rd., Oakton,VA 22124 will be gratefully accepted.

ARTHUR FAIRCLOTH "Art" (Age 88)

Of Fredericksburg passed away Thursday, April 1, 2010 at MaryWashington Hospital Emergency Center. Art enjoyed many sports including; golf, which he mostly played in Fairfax and Fredericksburg; bird hunting, he wouldn’t shoot an animal with four legs, and foot- ball. He attended and played football for Anacostia High School inWashington,D.C., where he earned a full athletic scholarship with North Carolina State University. After college, Art went on to play football for the NewYork Giants during the 1947 season in the triple threat position. Art worked for NBC Television inWashing- ton, D.C. for 25 years retiring in the late 1970’s. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. He is survived by a daughter, Anne Fair- cloth of Spotsylvania County; a son, Arthur M. Faircloth and his wife, Sharon of War- renton; a granddaughter, Laura M. Fair- cloth-Vandegrift of South Carolina; and a great grandson, Garrett B. Vandegrift of South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bettie M. Faircloth.
