Time to mask off the entire helmet, inside and out for this I use Huskey automotive masking tape for the exterior as I like the way it cuts and the amount of tack it has. Then I use just regular painter masking tape to protect the inside from over spray.

By this time we have already decided what images we are using but the back ground fade was still in the air, I reviewed the op- tions with the client and we agreed on a metallic bronze to white fade, So I spray a swatch to see what it would look like.

Using paper cut outs of the native art I am able to transfer the images onto the helmet for cutting. Using a # 11 X acto knife I cut all the lines, leaving none to be cut later, because when the helmet has paint on it, it would be very hard to try and find out what has not been cut yet. I am careful not to cut into the helmet

and cut thru the tape only. I have weeded out the area in which I will be painting black.

Here is where I am glad I cut all the lines earlier. All weeded and ready for the next color.
